Those behavior thing that happened happens only when im sleeping..she never bites..she only growls at people..shes very intelligent and sweet dog [a belgian sheperd]shes only 2 tears old now.maybe like me she become a homebody type of dog..since she grew up only w/me..she get jealous if someone comes near me..especially when a man comes near me [obviously im a girl]she's so sweet w/ my neighbors when im awake with her..the problem was only when im asleep..and with regards to my family it happens when we visit them at their place and i fell asleep on their couch, and my sisters and bro wants to wake me up for dinner that my dog growls at them..my dog is well trained..she can even lock the door when i leave and unlocked it when i arrived..she's a smart dog!

sometimes im thinking that maybe she knew that in my work i arrived in the morning..coz im working in a call center here in philippines and that im in graveyard shift..that i often got irritated when like for instance my maid wake me up for something..thats why to avoid my sudden change of moods she allows no one to interrupt my sleep..and to my neighbor he suddenly tapped me and im unaware of thats why my dog jump on him..maybe my dog reacted to it as a threat..what im asking here is whether my dog lacks in exposure to humans or what?coz even to my maid she always growls at her..though sometimes its also my maid fault coz she's always teasing my dog, though i always told her to avoid it..my dog seems never forget the teasing she have done to her!

You shouldn't praise a dog for growling at anyone!! unless you are training a Guard dog (ie. Military, police etc) a pet dog can be trained to growl on command if necessary but ONLY on command, you have to be boss here, or you will run into all kinds of trouble, what if she bit a child, I know you have said she only growls but biting is only a very small step away, you must re-train her now!!

We tend to think of dog training as a series of steps for teaching particular behaviors. To teach a dog to stay in a particular position, you reward her as she remains in place for gradually longer times, at gradually greater distances, with gradually increasing degrees of distraction. Now, this is fine, training does involve teaching dogs specific behaviors with a step-by-step approach. This week, though, I’m going to discuss three mental habits that will not only enable you train more effectively but also make life pleasant for both you and your dog.

its very normal for your dog to want to protect you ,, she has become acustome to having just you with her and she feels it is her job to prect you,, dont take it out on the dog cos its only natural to her,, but tell your friends and family to just holler at you softly when they wake you,, or put the pet in a pet cage ,, i know thats hard to do cos i have two dogs and they are my best friends ever,, but you should try to teach her who is safe to be with you and when she should be serious,, its alot of work to train them but the rewards are wonderful,

good luck
