Ok. First, yes, I do have clothes, a home, a vehicle, a child, 5dogs, etc. I was just wondering because I feel odd about asking God to help me with material things. I have a friend who does that and sometimes she gets them. I ask God to give me strength when I need it and I ask him to look after people and keep them safe, I just don't feel right asking for material things.

Yes, it is wrong. If you "Seek the Kingdom of God first" those things will be added. God will provide, but serve him only.

If you are asking for these things simply bcause you want them, then this is greed and God is unlikely to listen. However, if you ask them for some other reason then it is different. For example if you were too poor to afford a medicine that would cure you of a serious illness, then it would be right to ask for help from God, but at the end of the day God has a plan for all of us and if this does not fit in with the plan, then you will not get it.

I don't think it's wrong at all. I would, however, hesitate to start asking God for things that are really not necessary on a daily basis! Sure I might like to be able to visit a place in the world that is exotic...but He knows that anyway. God's word says, "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness....and all things will be added to you". I have noticed that since I started living this, I lack for no good thing.

No it's not wrong but He said
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to you."
God knows all your needs and desires before you think or even ask Him. But what He wants is for us to want more of Him. As we seek to know Him and love Him more, He in turn gives you everything you desire.
I am a witness to this. Spend time with Him in your word and in prayer and He will show you that there is nothing too hard for Him to give you. After all everything belongs to Him. He is our Daddy and it pleases Him to make us happy. Be an obedient child and you will be rewarded!
Love in Jesus' name

NO, it is not wrong to ask God for material things that you are in need of. He wants to meet all your needs and wants. You want to make sure that when you ask it matches up with what He wants for you as well. Are those needs going to keep your relationship intact with him or are they going to separate or harm your relationship with him? Sometimes God answers prayers that we really don't want him to answer. The reason for this is so that God can show us our own weaknesses and how He was right all along. But due to his love for us, he wants to give us his best.

According to Islam, it is not wrong to ask for those things. But preferrably it should not be the only thing you ask from God, you could always ask for forgiveness first (or to guide you to the True Path) and then ask for any material things. Because Afterlife is the most important thing and it is not easy to go to Paradise without the God's mercy on your soul.

No, if you need them for the right reasons. If you are just trying to amass wealth, praying for lottery numbers probably won't work. But if you are trying to better yourself by getting a job, and need transportation, that is okay.
God knows your heart and will provide the things you truly need. It's okay to be specific. Just remember that His plan supercedes yours, and what He delivers might not be exactly what you were expecting.

Should we be worring about our needs if we have the things to keep us going. Jesus didn't worry about anything to eat or a place to sleep, We are told to pray for others and this is one of our needs. Jesus will take care of our needs and he knows our wants before we ask. Why do we need things of this world, when we can have heaven. Our treasures will be in heaven. This is our work of a lifetime.

I myself do not do that because i dont think ive been good enough to ask for things yet. my mom on the other hand says that she asks god to help her out and i must say it has worked. she used to ask him for a new house and she ended up getting a brand new house that was way out of her spending limit but somehow things have worked out. i guess if you are a good person then god might reward you but you shouldnt make it a habit

There's nothing wrong with that. The purpose of religion is to achieve happiness. There's no happiness when you are lacking something, material or spiritual. Get the actual proof that your belief works by determining to get what you want in life.
