I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have had a difficult time finding a sucessful treatment. I am using accupuncture right now and it seems to make the condition worse. I am dealing with major back, neck pain and headaches. I feel like everything inside of me is tensed up and can not seem to relax. I was just wanting to know if there are others who have this same condition and have found sucess in treating this horrible conidition.

I was diagnosed in early 2004 and it took trial and error for me to find pain relief, although it's an art form trying to find what works for each person. Right now I take 800 mg. of Aleve and a 1000-mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime and I take Arnica tablets (a homeopathic herb) as needed for flareups. Like I said, though, it's more of an art than a science in trying to find relief. I also take Nux Vomica, another herb, for migraines. Check out the links below that I hope you will find very helpful. Best wishes, and good luck finding relief!

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at 15. I was the youngest person my doctor had ever diagnosed. My mother is a nurse practitioner who was diagnosed at thirty. She had taken pain medications and also changed her diet but nothing seemed to have lasting results. When I was 19 I decided to find another treatment after counting the 17 pills I was taking a day. I went to acupuncture, physical therapy and so on. Then I found a book called The Bible Cure for Fibromyalgia by Don Colbert. I'm not even a Christian but of all the books I had read his was the best. I followed his diet plan for a year. I cut out all white flour, sugar and most dairy. It was difficult but I began to feel better. I also took a month long body detox (you can get that at a health food store). I did feel worse before I felt better. That was my body ridding itself of toxins. It took a year but I began to exercise again and feel like a real person. I went back to the doctors who were treating me, the ones who said there was no cure, and they could find no longer find it. I have had no symptoms for three years now. I hope this helps you.

This is not a straight forward condition. Each person is different and it seems that trial and error is the best way to find out what works for you.
Read "Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About". It changed my life. I don't have Fibromyalgia, I suffered migrains, panic attacks and allergies. Following the advise in this book, I have only had 3 migraines this year, down from one or 2 every month, the panic attacks are nearly gone and allergies have cleared up. I swear by this book.
In addition to cures, he talks about the effects of additives, preservatives, western medicine and how food manufacturers want us addicted to and fattened by really bad food.
It's pretty shocking.

I was placed on 50mg of Tramadol. I take two in the morning and the effects last all day for like 8hrs. It doesn't take all the pain away but it allows me to function better throughout the day. I've also had trigger point therapy which is not pleasent but works for a lot of fibromaylgia patients. You can also try and switch to an organic diet, I've heard tried and true from a lot of people that it literally changes their life. I myself am still testing the waters and trying to find something that works for me, of course I suffer from many other wonderful ailments so I can't take certain things or eat certain things so I am limited to what I can do for my symptoms. I hope this helps.

My grandma, great-aunt and second cousin have that. My grandma was diagnosed with several food allergies that also affect her - so she does her best to stick to organic vegetables and fruit as possible, etc. The book the second answerer mentioned has some good stuff in it, but you might want to see a doctor. I believe you might want to look into swimming - in warm water if possible, and without chlorine. It might be wise to look into mineral hot springs anywhere near where you live. I heard about a doctor, Russell Roby, M.D., who was recently researching how women in the process of developing asthma or fibromyalgia have a more difficult time with their monthly cycles - they also exhibit allergic reactions and cold symptoms. I think he is doing work at the University of Immunosciences in California or something else in Texas. I don't know if that is related to any of your symptoms, but since my mother has asthma, and my grandmother has fibromyalgia, I found that fact interesting. It may mean that there is more going on with the hormonal and diet relationship than we know about, but research is being done. I included the link in case you live anywhere near California or Texas. I live in Utah, so I haven't contacted them in person yet.

hi there, i suffer from fibromyalgia and severe fatigue, also cervical spondolosis, back pain, the list is endless, my doctor told me that there was absolutley nothing i could do, only take pain killers, i use essential oils and i find they are ok, i use them in the bath i also use them as a massage rub, sometimes they seem to help with the fibromyalgia, other times they don't, but do give them a try, they are good for helping you to relax,
i hope this helps

For those areas you mentioned, Id try a Chiropractor for a few visits. Go to someone people recommend. Other than that, you need a pain med that will help and a doctor needs to give you something. I take Ultracet for my pain.

I also suffer with Fibro, caused by another illness.

There are many meds to help with this, work with your Dr. with this. I have had FMS long before the diagnosis existed. I do know you need to stay as active as possible. Keeping your muscles in good condition, it helps keep you in check. If your having flares going to a warm pool that has classes for arthritis and it will help , also if you can find a warm pool you can find a hot tub. It helps alot.I go to our local WMCA good luck

The most successful way to treat it is by following to the letter what your doctor says. Only what your doctor says. Don't take any homemade remedy or try some weird stuff. Won't work.
