Trident has Sorbital *and* Asparame:
Ingredients: PEPPERMINT : Sorbitol, Gum Base, Maltitol, Mannitol, Artificial and Natural Flavoring; Less Than 2% of: Acacia, Acesulfame Potassium, Aspartame, BHT (To Maintain Freshness), Calcium Casein Peptone-Calcium Phosphate (Lactose-Free Milk Derivative) ** , Candelilla Wax, Sodium Stearate and Titanium Dioxide (Color).
Orbit has both too:
Sorbitol, Gum Base, Gylcerol, Natural and Artifical Flavors, Mannitol, Xylitol, Aspartame, Acesulfame K, Lecithin, BHT (To maintain freshness), Phenylketonurics (Contains Phenylalanine).
Chew in moderation, and you should be fine. You'd have to have a fresh piece of gum in your mouth 24 hours a day to get enough of these chemicals to do any harm, most probably. I'd be more concerned about diet pop (which I don't drink because Aspartame and I do not work well together)

Here is an article I found to be of some help and also interesting. I'm not so sure its as bad as the article makes it out to be, but I wouldn't chew it on a regular basis. No doubt about it, aspartame is not a good thing in your diet, but chewing it once in a great while shouldn't kill you. Hope this helps!

I believe anything that doesn't come from original sources is bad for you.
Did you know that Splenda is chlorine based? It can cause stomach problems in people and there have already been negative info concerning aspartame as well.
I stay away from the stuff as much as possible.
