My guess would be that the EHT arced over from the eht lead or possible the eht transformer . This can happen on humid or rainy days especially if there is an accumulation of dust etc around the eht section and connector on CRT. . If you are comfortable with the idea you could unplug the TV from the wall , remove the back cover and have a butchers at the eht lead to the tube and the transformer ! get a duster and clean all around the high voltage parts , use methylated spirits then dry it all. It should be ok then . Otherwise as they say " don`t worry be happy " .

YES ..do you smell anything like burning? Sounds like a capacitor popped .. Test out all of the features...I would not be surprised if something is not working .. There are usually a few circuit boards in a TV so some things may be working while something else is not. If this is an old TV you could run it till it dies if you do not smell ongoing burning smell .. if you do then be carefull .. If the TV is new take it back to the dealer ... they can open it up and check the circuit boards..

What do YOU recon? Does it sound like the normal operation for a television? Obviously not or you wouldn't be asking the question. So when you're ill you see a doctor. Your TV isn't well so see someone who does TV repairs.
BTW If you had a sick horse where would you take it?
Horse pital.
And what would you give a sick budgie?

Oh no. I've heard of this before. It's a poltergeist. You're only hope is to offer yourself as a sacrifice before it takes over.

Yes and watch out for sparks! Get a fire extinguisher and put it near the tube. Just in case!

Why be worried? It's still working. Watch it til it quits, then buy a new one. Or do without. Tv is nothing to worry about.
