My TV, a Panasonic just gave out a loud bang like a component exploding inside and then went into stand by mode. I pressed a button to see if it still worked and it does !
Should I be worried?

It was probably the plastic expanding with heat or arching across uisually caused by dampness or condensation. The high voltage leaks out from the transformer and strikes the glass on the CRT causing a loud crack. It will happen again.

Oh no. I've heard of this before. It's a poltergeist. You're only hope is to offer yourself as a sacrifice before it takes over.

Why worry? Worst that could happen is it explodes into a ball of flames which engulfs you and your whole family.

Sounds dodgy!

Advise you keep it unpluged and get a qualified engineer to take a look at it

might have been a power surge... when you goto bed mate, put a smoke alarm next to it.. and unplug it totally. just to be safe.. when you use it again.. smell near it for smoke, and if any.. keep it off....
