If it weren't for flies, roadkill would be around a lot longer than it really is. They are a rapid and efficient decomposer, and an essential foodsource for higher animals. All part of the foodchain. Flies do spread disease so it's best that they stay outside.

Each little critter has a usefulness in the process of life.. some do carry some pretty dirty things with them however.. flies being one of the guilty ones.

The only thing we need for flies is to clean up foods around the house, and to eat smaller bugs.

Other then that they are just really annoying and they contaminate food and drinks and may transmit serious diseases/viruses.

Flies are like vultures for smaller organisms. Besides maggots are very handy with wounds in foreign countries. Maggots will only eat something that is dead and decaying like gangrene in wounds.

They clean up bits of food left laying around. Otherwise it would sit there and rot - breeding bacteria.
