The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

from bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependency;
from dependency back again to bondage.”
-- Sir Alex Fraser Tytler (1742-1813) Scottish jurist and historian

Where in this process is the United States today?

Excellent observation. I know where to stop the progression. It is Biblical but not taught or practiced. It is accountability of the followers and the spiritual leaders (epistle to Tim and Mat 18) If this is inserted right about at complacency the chain will be broken. Example Bush should have been openly denounced (excomunicated) after the proper steps were taken or He should have responded to correection

I would say between complacency and apathy.It seems like the plans are being drawn up for us to be dependent on globalism and the New World Order which I believe is next.Considering that Sir Alex lived almost 200 years ago and that modern media tells us that" all past generations were stupid".He really had this one figured out!

Poster, please give me soem examples of these 'Great Civilisations' that have lasted only 200 years, and from such a credible source as an 18th Century Scot.

Britain did not last only 200 years, France did not.

Spiritual Faith is not important to the fulfillment of a nation. Religion is a cancer, a Disease, which needs to be burned out of our race once and for all

Hmm, good point. I think it's about time more people started seeing through to what we have become. The truth is staring us in the face.
I agree with Icheeknow.

this is highly false as Prayer is no good.
We can't face problems in the world such as:
(global warming, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, sting-rays being defensive, etc etc)
by using prayer, science proves this.

Instead of wasting your time preparing for
an afterlife, spend this entire life preparing your future generations for their lives and so on.

The one's who didn't evactuate New Orleans
just sat back and prayed that the hurricane
wouldnt flood New Orleans. Wow!!! Their prayers
were answered huh? They didnt leave b/c they were
lazy and thought prayer could help divert the
hurricane. WRONG! We as a human race have to take onproblems in the world Face-to-Face, not Face-to-Thought.

When a nation rejects God, they are under His judgement. For this rebellion and not accepting Him, He still loves the nation, but sin cannot go unpunished. For sin and God cannot coexist together in the same room.
