If you've seen some of my other questions you may have noticed I have been doing some soul searching in regards to religion. My father is athiest and my mother christian, so I have heard both views as a child into adulthood. I was given the option to choose my own path in life. I am swinging toward atheism because it seems to make more sense to me, but from the fear of God which my mother has taught, it's like I fear MY decision? Has anyone every felt this way. We as people can be influenced even when others aren't really trying to influence. I don't know if I want to call it brainwashing, but it kind of is.

I've studied the bible(different versions), Quaran, buddism, juddism, and i've even studied with universal unitarians(study of all religion, spirituality, and beliefs) It all seems to be a waste of human though sometimes. That's why I'm searching, because 'm conflicted.

Apostle Jeff:
I have done that many times and have believed and believed with my whole heart and soul and I have asked many questions. I have gotten NO ANSWERS to this day. I asked the day I was molested, I asked the day I became homeless, I asked the day my beautiful daughter was born, I asked when I lost a good friend, I asked when I got a good job, I asked after being racially totured, I asked when i was happy, Iasked when I was sad, I asked when i was angry, I asked when I was content, I asked for no reason, I asked the day before I tried to take my own life.... I asked. Still no answer.
And please don't say I may just not have understood the answer, because I've looked for signs, words, thoughts, dreams, inner peace and NO ANSWERS.

Sorry babygirl. I think I've made my decision. Why keep searching for something that isnt there. I might as well be looking for the leprechaun and it's pot of Gold. Thank you ALL for your answers though.

Oh, I've been through it too. It sounds like you may be agnostic, although i'm only making an assumption. A lot of us are like pendulums, swinging from one extreme to the next, and this happens to me, even to this day. I'll think about something I've done and think that it was sacreligious of me to do it, and other days, I just say screw it. But, in the end, we all find out what we truly believe.

I have a question that I would like to ask you. What does being an atheist offer you? I use to be an atheist until a Christian confronted me. He shared the gospel of Christ with me. I felt uncomfortable, so I told him that I would pray about it. RIGHT! LOL Then he said that if I did the Salvation prayer with him, that I would gain eternal life in Heaven. He then said, that if I was right, all I did was waste a few minutes of my life. I am not much of a gambler, so I said the prayer to get him off my case and just in case he was right. After I did the prayer, God proved His existence to me. I then became a Spirit Filled Christian 20 years later. Give God a chance. Just say this prayer out loud.
"Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I believe that you sent your Son Jesus, to pay for my sins by dying in my place. Please forgive me and come into my life so that I can have the power to turn from my sins and so that I can live for you in Jesus name, amen!"
By doing this prayer, you have given God the authority to come into your life so that He can prove His existence to you personally. Read the Book of John now and God will open your Spiritual eyes. If you have any more questions, just e-mail me.
Sincerely Yours, Pastor Jeff Ludin

I know of someone that has been through just what you have described and he went out and found a cave with a bible in it, so he read it to prove things wrong he had heard. He ended up not proving any of those things wrong but got to know the bible as he never thought he would and is now a very famous preacher. If you want to see if something is really real or not, check out the bible as this man did and see for yourself what it says, let it explain itself and see what you think. Won't hurt anything and may be just the thing that you need the most.

You say you have prayed the sinners Prayer. Have you ever really trusted him to see you through these tough times? God is our comforter, if we know him as our Lord and Savior. Sounds like you have been through some rough times. Give it a chance, find a good church to attend, where you can be mentored. If you don't like the first one keep on until you find one that you do. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I grew up in an entirely Catholic household so no, I didn't get differing viewpoints. I chose my own path even when they didn't want me to... it's nice that you have more tolerance in your life. If a certain point of view resonates with yourself, go with it... whatever it is.

Have you considered that there may be a God outside of Christianity? Try other religions.... I personally am agnostic... I will believe there is a God when it is proven to me.

You are free to believe as you wish. I think it might be a life and death decision. You might want to check your sources about everything.
GOD bless ya!
