why is it that when a pitbull bites someone its in the news alll over the world but when a lassie dog bites someone there like "oh it didnt mean it was just...umm well you know it didnt mean to" and they get away with it. it makes me sooooooooo mad!!!!!!!! do you agree?
My dad has been bit by almost 20 different breeds but never ever a pitbull! So why go against pitbulls? Every dog could hurt some one.and its just that there more powerfull and that doesnt make them viscious. I've been around alot of pitbulls and they all have been big babys.

Because a pitbull in the wrong hands can be a dangerous weapon.
I wish this wasn't the case. But sadly, it is.

A pit-bull is 1 of the most misunderstood of dog breeds, all the 1's I've met R gorgeous, lovable & soft.
It's the same here the UK, the favourite 2 blame is any Mastiff & there have been some nasty cases.
But these dogs gone bad were in the wrong hands.
A dog is only as good/bad as it's owner, it's not normally the dogs fault they have a moron 4 an owner.

The main reason is dog fighting. The reason pitt bulls are used in dog fighting is because they have the most powerful jaws out of all the breeds. Therefore they have been stereotyped as a visious breed. And the only time most of these stereotypers have seen these dogs was on TV being used as fighters. Working at a vets office i have seen meaner labs than pitt bulls. So that jus goes ot show jus how stupid people are.

Don't EVER let your dad near a venomous snake!! How did he get bit 20X? Seriously, pitbulls have a lousy rep. & certain people like to keep the rep goin' by encouraging the aggression & enhancing the appearance with spikes etc. Any dog can bite, & unfortunately PB's look the part, big muscles, menacing stare, aggressive stance. Our society like to assign blame, deserved or not, & the majority of bulls have to suffer because of a few mishandled dogs.

pitbulls are my breed of choice. they were originally breed out of England as fowl hunters that's where the lock jaw comes into effect. however as time went on the were used for family protection. theses dogs are extremely loyal............. now a days these dogs are bred to die . due to the locking jaw some jackass decided to pit fight them hence the name pit bull they are really called staffashire terriers . they are ususally at a 35 lb weight but very powerful strong upper body strength. most pitbulls that are nasty are inner breed (mother-son father daughter etc)as with any inner breed there is a disorder not all of them are genetic. with a retarded dog he is extremley powerful same as a mentally retarded person the have great strength but we do not go around killing them.society is to blame for this. drug dealers use these dogs for protection so instead of eliminating dealers we turn our heads and kill the dog . its not the dog fault it is how he is raised. take a look at the teens of today?! they are going around killing each other over a pair of sneakers. this is the generation that will be taking care of us as we age . but their parents are so busy working and socializing they do not have time for the kids they brought into this world. hug your child make them earn that 1.00 do not hand it over. then there are the children of drug dealers they all have pits for the prestige full circle the breed was bred to die and what a shame they are really lovable if they are raised right even the retarded ones.

The behaviour of the dog is dependant on the responsibility of the owner. Pit-bulls are just dogs but the media loves a villain. Um, how come you dad gets bitten so much.

I agree, I have a Doberman and the amount of people that cross the street and say to there kids "DON'T TOUCH" really pisses me off. just because he is big they assume he is vicious. Pit bulls do have a bad name why? beacuse 1 in 500 people have had a bad experience. people need to wake up and remember, " NOT ALL DOGS ARE THE SAME" how many time do we have to say this "NOT ALL DOGS ARE THE SAME" hold in there and if in doubt tell the morons to **** *** good luck lol

Wow, Your Dad's been bitten by 20 different breeds? What does he do for a living? Mailman?
And, yes, the media is biased against pit bulls. But when pits do attack, they generally do not quit after just one bite. Some of them do go for a kill, as that is what they have been bred for.

What's wrong with your dad that he's been bit 20 times?
But to answer your question, when "Lassie" bites, she bites opnce and then retreats. When Cujo bites, you don't walk away without major damage or death.
I've had dogs all my life, and have worked rescue for 5 years. I haven't been bit since I was a child.

because pit bulls are trained to attack things, where as collies are trained to round up and herd, but as in any species including man some will attack for no reason..........the reason pit bulls get press is the same as England football fans you always more likely to be live the worst, who would believe 'collie savages nun' on front page of newspaper. i had a pit bull which was the softest dog in the world. got beat up by birds and cats!!
