How to start the homeschooling for a junior in high school?
Is it legal in Vanderburgh County?
Any information will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Homeschooling is legal in all 50 states.

According to the HSLDA website, all you have to do is notify the principal(in writing) and then start. The only records you need to keep are attendance, which is pretty easy (get a calendar and mark off the days you do school, even if it's a field trip).

Check out the second website below from the Ind. Dept. of Ed. It lists the specifics for starting homeschooling in Indiana.

For a high school junior, I'd suggest you read, "The Teenage Liberation Handbook", by Grace Llewellyn.

Best wishes!

Homeschooling should be legal in every state. I can't help you with the exact laws were you live b/c I am in Texas. Texas considers homeschooling private school so it is easy for us to get by. Watch out for your local school board and school district they may give you trouble. Ours did at first and then quickly backed down once they realized the law was on our side and the lawyers from the Texas Colition for Homeschooling showed up. (Plz excuse typos my keyboard is sticking). They defend homeschoolers against anyone who gives them trouble. But I can't help with your state. Only Tx. Sry. Good Luck! Oh and don't let anyone try to tell you homeschooling cannot be successful. I graduated from homeschooling early and went straight to college right after I turned 16. I will graduate college at 19 and then go on to get my B.S.N. and med school. I aced the college entrance exam and taught myself almost ll of my high school work. It can be done!

P.S.

Check with your local school board to find out what you are required to do to homeschool. It varies from state to state.
