I was out on the east coast for 3 months and fell in love with Yuengling Beer. But now that Im back in the midwest it is unavailable, are there any beers sold throughout the country that are similar to Yuengling?

I'm the opposite of you.

I recently moved from the midwest (Chicago) where I lived all my life to the Philadelphia area. And I bought my first case of Yuengling recently. I like trying out local beers that I've never had, and it's pretty good.

How that compares to midwest beers, I'm not too sure. I see Yuengling as kind of a lighter flavored beer than something like Samuel Adams and other similar more expensive microbrews, but far better than crap like Budweiser and Miller.

So in terms of flavor, I think that's really subjective. Something that I would think Yuengling compares to in the midwest, you might think is really different. So I think the best comparison is to give you some local midwest breweries to try. You'll have to try many beers I think before you get a good match (which isn't that bad of a thing to do).

Goose Island in Chicago is a great microbrewery with many different styles of beer that are sold in stores around the midwest. Leinenkugel is another brand from Wisconsin that may have something similar to Yuengling (although I think they were bought by Miller).

My advice would be to try to find something else you like locally from the midwest. And also occasionally order Yuengling as the other person above mentioned.
