Make Dua (prayer) for her to realise she was once a child and she needs to look after her children Insha'ALLAH. I hope everything gets better for everyone in this kind of situation. The parent may need to seek medical treatment also as there may be some kind of underlying issue for example depression, sickness, insanity etc...

She could be suffering from depression.
Strange you should ask. My Mom left us several times before she was killed in an automobile accident in 1957.
My Aunt and I were just having this conversation last night, wondering, what would make a Mother leave her children.

It may have been the best thing she could have done for them...since you didn't give any details it's hard to say. Did she leave them with family or friends that love and care for them, or just dump them to the state? Is it temporary or permanent arrangement? If a parent loves their children, sometimes the most difficult, and most loving thing they can do is give them up. Try not to judge too harshly until you know her reasons, if you do not know already. Take care.

Ask my ex-wife. She walked out on our three ages 11, 8, 5. Decided there was more she wanted to do in life. By the way, she is a "good" Catholic.
