Standard is six weeks. Start birth control and give it a chance to work and then at the 6 week check up the doctor will notify if there are special reasons to wait or give the ok. Why risk it. Too many people have sex before their bodies are ready and end up paying for it with useless pain or bleeding during intercourse. Be patient. It took nine months for the body to make the baby - give six weeks to heal.

I tell my patients to wait six weeks. Sometimes they don't but that is why they end up coming back pregnant again. The reason we say wait the six weeks is so that you can give the birth control a chance to kick in. We usually give you birth control a few days after delivery. If you are not going to wait then at least use a condom so that you don't get pregnant. Also we want the body to completely heal before you start having sex again.

I read on a health encyclopedia, you should wait six weeks before start having sex again, but i think it depends also on how the woman feels too.

The minimum is 6 weeks, which is when you have your postpartum checkup.... your dr should tell you at that time if it is safe to start having intercourse again.

im pretty sure it is 6 weeks for medical to give your body time to recover from giving birth but if you dont feel like it for longer than that hen dont worry that is up 2 u
