In what way can we try to slow down or even stop the negative effects of global warming? This is becoming an increasingly hazardous problem. Feel free to post anything, you will- er, should, NOT be criticized for any answer.

There are many very obvious things that can be done but none of these is as important as the proper education of the American (US of A) public. Most citizens have no idea how their gas sucking SUV (among other things) is effecting the lives of their own grandchildren.

The promotion of mass transportation is a must. Not just inner city but travel between cities as well.

The promotion of the growth of life forms which trap carbon dioxide is very important. Mollusks (and other shell producing animals) are extremely important. Carbon dioxide trapped in sea shells is not going to get back into the atmosphere very quickly.

A good alternative to the throw away culture is needed and needs to be promoted as soon as possible. The environmental impact on just the end of the throw away shopping bag is huge. More paper and plastic recycling needs to be done.

The manufacture of cement may be causing more carbon dioxide buildup than the burning of both fossil fuels and the plants for land clearing combined. Alternative resources need to be developed.

The promotion of a National Environment Corp, similar to the Conservation Corp during the Great Depression, needs to be started. Trees could be planted, waterways cleaned, even the sorting of junk on the way to a landfill could make the difference between a crisis and a better world.

American must lose their arrogance. Without this, there is no hope. Science cannot find miricles to cure every problem, but people must actually do something instead of plan and talk for any effects to be accomplished.

The main meteorologist behind the U.N. Global Warming Hysteria Report has suddenly changed his forecast from Global Temps rising to stable and even a little lowering for a few decades then rise again. BUT WAIT why what major policy change happen to create this situation. Did Obama's promised Sea Level Lowering promise come true just because he is elected President??? NO, IT IS CALLED THE SUN. THE SUN WAS IN SOLAR MAXIMUM WHICH CAUSED US TO WARM UP AND IT IS OVER AND NOW IN SOLAR MINIMUM TILL 2030 AND THE RECORD LOWS ARE HAPPENING ALREADY. Teaching moment: Sun Spots activity causes the earth to warm and it is a predictable cycle for centuries. The HOT was on when the GW hysteria started. Now the Sun Spots are stopped and virtually none. The Record Lows across the country and the world are due to this. THE GLOBAL WARMING LIE IS EXPOSED AND NOW THEY CAN'T HIDE.

The quite obvious things we can do is cut down on the amount of electricity we use. Share cars, or don't use them. Get around on public transport, or bikes.
This is the most major thing we as the public could really do to help. The rest is down to orginizations working on effeciency of products like tv's.
Recently, a new type of light bulb has been developed which uses a lot less power than a conventional light bulb. It's an LED buld. If you can get them fitted that's a step in the right direction.
You want to keep your heating on for the least amount of time and have an efficient boiler.
The most major change would be for the development of fuels such as hydrogen for commercial purposes. If we could create hydrogen from solar energy, or wind energy, we would create zero CO2 which would halt emmissions.
It's all about little things which make big changes.

The only solution about stopping global warming is less consuming. We can do little things by ourselves. But unless this principle became worlwide acceptable by all countries(Especially the developed ones.Because they releases the greenhouse gases to the atmosphere the most) this problem will remain unsolved and perhaps very big disasters are waiting for us.What a pity for all of us that neither USA nor UK has signed the Kyoto protocole yet.

Reduce our use of fossil fuels. Some people have one magic answer, I think this is too big a problem for one solution. I think we'll need nuclear power, solar, wind, biofuels, and, perhaps most of all, energy conservation.

There are a few ideas on doing other things, like growing a lot more algae in the oceans, but they're really unproven

One thing that everyone can do is make a conscious effort to buy more local food. Buying local, organic food means that not only are you avoiding chemicals that harm the environment and yourself, but you are also not supporting a system that transports food thousands of miles by plane, boat, & truck, meaning that it all has extra hydrocarbons attached to it, i.e. the stuff of global climate change. This is especially true of meat, which takes more energy to produce than crops.

1) reducing the carbon emissions as much as possible, for instance by using Hydrogen as a clean source of energy.
2) restoring the forests and building new ones as quickly and efficiently as possible.
3) clean the surface of the oceans and restore or increase the microscopic algae which are the most efficient Oxygen producers.
4) a belt of reflective particles orbiting above the warmest latitudes of the globe to reduce the solar rays reaching the ground. Hope it doesn't sound as science fiction!

Will not happen. The number of coal fired power plants currently being built will far outweigh any conservation efforts.

Don't recycle, the only resource we are leaving to the future at the current rate of consumption is in our landfills.

With the current model of finding and burning all the oil in the world, what if the salvation of the human race far in the future relies on oil and none is left? Your great-great-great-etc. grandchildren will be angry that you drove anywhere.

The fundamental method to stop global warming is to harness air pollution. We must also stop the usage of Chloroflurocarbons.Basically, we must give nature sufficient time to mend the Ozone holes.

Educate China and India, (and the rest of the developing world) of the evils of the american Model.
Encourage them to grow their cities based on public transportation, tree and forest conservation, building of homes designed for energy conservation, preservation of local cultures and eating local products.
And on your personal life, minimize energy consumption.

Everybody could go back to living like the cave man did. That is before the invention of fire. Human population would need to be reduced to less than one percent of what it is now. Any volunteers?
