I had an operation on Thursday and in recovery they told me that I had a drug which was stronger than Morphine to help with the pain. They told me the name but I was too out of it to remember it. Does anyone know what it could be called?

There are several. Hydromorphone, fentanyl, oxycodone are some of the more common possibilities.
Stronger is a relative term though. Typically it means which drug delivers equipotency with the smallest dose.

I don't know of anything stronger than morphine I have had many ops and it seems that this is the only one that they gave me I had 5 shots in less than an hour to bring the pain under control. I was spaced out for the rest of the day though. Man it was good.

Right now it is fentanyl, and others like it. But there is a new one on the way, called Ziconotide. 1,000 times stronger than morphine.

There are other drugs in the opioid family ( for are which are the strongest analgesics and for which morphine is in). These could be: Buprenorphine, Diamorphine, Pethidine etc. The list can go on. Hope this helps- email me for more info....

Could have been Dilaudid, but Fentanyl likelier.
And, I think it's pretty far reaching and unfair to immediately assume this person is looking for street drugs just because they are curious about the medications given to them in a hospital setting.
Furthermore, if they are in severe pain, they should be adequately treated and relieved.

besides heroin, i didnt think there was a stronger opiate than morphine and i dont think they'll give you morphine for the pain unless your in the hospital and theyre giving it to you.

the standar drug of choise is fentanyl or and analog wich is around 10-10,000 times more potent than morphine, by the way heroin is illigal schedule I and can`t be prescribed.

Oh Brother, If anyone tell him the answer he will become such a pain is assss that until his doctor won't give him this medicine he will keep harrassing his office staff. I agree with Bio Hazard, No one tell him the name please. And by the way why do you need morphine now when you are home? Why do not you ask your doctor, huh? Heheehe

Heroin.It starts as opium,then gets refined to morphine,then further refined to heroin.
