According to various health/pharmacy experts, acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. It is found in common medications such as Tylenol, and yes, Vicodin. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage. Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with acetaminophen, may increase your risk for liver damage. If you have any of the following symptoms of liver damage - severe nausea, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue - I would recommend seeing a doctor immediately. From what I can gather, prolonged use of acetaminophen and alcohol in conjunction with each other may cause liver damage. It does not appear, however, that you are at risk in any way in this instance. Acetaminophen is one of the most widely prescribed medications on the market, and has virtually no side effects. My guess is that if mixing the two was potentially fatal with normal dosages, it wouldn't be available. Hope that helps!

First off, Vicodin always has acetaminophen in it. Along with hydrocodone, that's the other component. Where did you get the idea that acetaminophen and alcohol together can kill you??? Not outright it can't. Taken together, especially in large amounts, increases the risk of hepatoxicity (liver damage) but it certainly won't drop you dead where you stand. Now the hydrocodone is another matter. My professional advice to you is to avoid alcohol while you are taking Vicodin. Alcohol can increase the sedative effect of the Vicodin. But since you do recreational drugs, perhaps this is exactly the effect you're looking for. You stated that you took Vicodin last night AND today...did I interpret that correctly?

sure it's probably ok if you took the vicoden last night.

As you know, too much alcohol and too much acetaminophen on a regular basis will definitely damage your liver or kill you. But having one vicoden on one day, then one drink on the next day should be safe.

Doctors do not recommend to drink alcohol when you are using any king of pill. However my doctor told me that after 12 hours it does not give any damage because of the pill you are getting. But do not get it ust after you drink alcohol. Enjoy the party...

acetaminophen is just the technical name for tylenol - yes you can drink some alcohol. it will not effect you adversely.

I would call the pharmacist where I filled that prescription or any pharmacist and ask.
It sounds ok but PLEASE do not take chances. Painkillers and alcohol can kill.

you're good to go, the liver metabolizes that stuff in a few hours, the tylenol that is.

No, it won't kill you now but you might be more sensitive to the booze and THAT can kill you.
