You asked (somewhere else) for recommendations about books on evolution. Grab anything by Richard Dawkins, especially "The Ancestors' Tale".

I never heard any good biblical poetry yet though here is one of my favorites
Bad Boys stick together
Never
Sad Boys
Do do do do do do do
Boys like you
are Bad through and through
yet girls like me
always seem to be
with you.
Another good one is
Time can never mend
The careless Whisper of a good friend
In the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
there's no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you find
I'm never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm

And what is so bad about quoting the Bible? Do you not seek the truth? Do you seek wisdom?
Have you honestly ever read the Bible and gave it a fair chance? Or are you actually scared that it may change your life.
Just read the book of Ecclesiastes and see if it does not have relavence in your life today.

ahhh poor baby.
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all hard feelings, anger and rage. Stop all fighting and lying. Put away every form of hatred. 32 Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive each other, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done.

I hate it. Just because you wish to learn about someones religion does not mean you want to read great big chunks of the bible.
You want peoples opinions, not something you could read if you wanted.
It would be better if they said if you want read verse bla bla....etc.
Then you would get people's opinions and the choice to read that section of the bible if you wished.

The bible is the divine source of all truth! That's why people quote it! If you don't like it, go elsewhere! Your loss!

i know it can be annoying at times ,but also some times i see it as being very funny ,and it gives us something to think about, and gives us a clue as to how they think too ,and i have to admit i like to wind it up a bit ,as im the sort of person who can see the funny side to things and i just love to bring up mary hehe ,but i can see where you are coming from,

well if you would just listen to the verses being recited to you it just might do you some good. and judging by the question you asked you could use those verses quite a bit.

Those who have nothing worth while to say , nothing originial to contribute, fall back upon quotes. I usually do not pay much heed to them, unless it is apparent they do not know the correct wording of a quote.. then I might correct them. If you are sick of them, don't read them. I personally will oft times give them a thumbs down and move on to something more interesting.
