Well that all depends on where your going to live? Like if you moved to Los Angeles, that would be enough money to get you into a nice little one bedroom apartment.. In a fairly decent part of L.A.. And still have enough to buy some groceries, and deposits, etc.. And maybe, enough to hold you over until you get a job. to continue paying all your bills.. Rent, lIghts, phone, gas, cable.. bus fair.. Unless, you already have a job.. Now, if you moved to somewhere in Arizona, the cost of living is much cheaper!!! Phoenix, has good schools, and the cost of living is way less than anywhere in California!! It just depends on where.. But, otherwise, you should be okay anywhere with this $15,000, starting cash.. Smile!!!

Well the average student probably only makes between 15-20,000. Are you coming just for school? Do you plan on working? It also depends on what part of the country..some place are alot more expensive than others. I hope you come in peace buddy. Good Luck. Rent around where I live is about 300-600 per month. If you get a roomate you can cut that cost in half. just a little FYI...

With good planning you can live on very little money. I recommend renting a room in a house shared by others. Or if you will be a student, you can rent room in hostel for $135 per week, even in California. Recommended: Santa Cruz, California (surfer town with a hippie cool history but long rainy season) or Santa Barbara, California which is the American Riveria (coolest place to live with perfect weather). Live close to downtown area on a street with bus service and do not own a car. Own electric motorbike or regular cruiser model.

Why not come to Canada? Our education system is as good as, and in many areas better than the US, and we won't be telling you to stay home. Our universities are also much cheaper to attend. However, $15000 won't even pay tuition and books let alone housing costs and food, for one year for a foreign student.

$15,000.00 is all you are coming with? Not a wise idea. Like the others have said, depends on where you're moving to. I live in San Diego, CA. Rent for a decent apartment in a decent neighborhood costs me $1000.00/month. Add on cable, phone, gas and electric, water, car payment, cell phone, gas for your car...there's another $750.00 for me. If you are coming here you'll soon realize you NEED a job to stay. Good luck.

Sya,

Even with a low income of $50,000, life will be bad. You will live in a bad, dangerous neighborhood, catch the bus and do your grocery shopping at Food For Less (the juice may or may not have shards of glass).

Los Angeles is very expensive.

Why do you want to go to the US? That country's under a constant threat of terrorist attack. And when there isn't any terrorist attacks, there's ALWAYS gang warfare in LA that ends up killing an innocent bystander.
