I have been commissioned to research weather food tastes different when you eat it with different hands. I can't find any information about it anywhere...I heard there was a study done about it though. Does anyone have any ideas/opinions about this and where I could find info about it? Thanks!!

Of course not. Taste comes from the taste buds inside the mouth. It doesn't matter how the food gets in the mouth for the taste buds to do their job as long as the mechanism used to put the food into the mouth is not tainted. The experience maybe different if you eat with a different hand/utensil because it will take more concentration.

You do know Yahoo Answers is not the place for a scientific test, right?

You will have to get a significant number of people to take such a test.

The only possible reason I could see for this would be that Moslems are forbidden to touch food with the left hand as they consider it unclean.

Maybe...
If you hold a fork/spoon with your left hand, it would go to the right side of your mouth.

You asked the wrong question. Find out weather the left/right-side taste buds are equal. If you have a saltier taste on you left side, food inserted with the right hand would taste it.

It tastes different being fed from someone else's hand just as wine tastes different in someone else's glass. Senses are heightened by something different. Having said that, as a right handed person, maybe it tastes better from my left hand.

No. I know for a fact that food tastes the same no matter what hand you eat it with.

Maybe for right-handers the food would taste nicer with their right hands and left-handers would find the food nicer with their left hands. But hey, i'm no scientist. :)

No why would it matter, unless something weird like one hand sweats more than the other,(yuck, I guess it would make food taste saltier:) and only than if you don't use silverware

No, unless you hav something different on each hand that might influence taste or smell.

well if you are from a certain arab country it does.. if a thief is caught, his right hand is cut off.. therefore he is forced to eat with the hand that he wipes his *** with after defecating.. THAT would make it taste different.. it adds insult to injury.
