We are not terrorists. We don't want it for us or for anyone. Those people killing others and calling themselves Muslims are not considered Muslims. But it seems that no matter how much we inform others about Islam's truth, no one wants to listen. Do not generalize between Muslims. A true Muslim does not harm others. Those that hurt others intentionally do not have the qualities of one. We only want peace amongst each other and other religions. The very word, Islam (الإسلام) means peace. Don't be ignorant and look deeper into Islam and you'll discover what it really is.

because ignorance is contagious. it's like a plague, it spreads quickly. Allah SWT guides whom HE wishes and doesn't guide whom HE wishes. The Pr. Muhammad ASW had enemies even though they knew he was telling the truth.

Many people see Muslim terrorist on TV and then hear news reports about how Muslims communities sympathize with the terrorists. Even if the TV reports are false there is no way anyone could honestly say Islam is a peaceful religion, not with all their jihads. If Islam was a peaceful religion it would have been destroyed by other religions a long time ago.

I am not a member of the Islamic faith, but it unfortunately appears that the only Islamic voices that get represented in the West are those of the extremists that preach intolerance and violence. How can that be overcome? I'm not really sure. A worldwide media marketing campaign to let the world know that the vast majority of the followers of Islam, like the followers of other faiths, just want to live a peaceful life, practicing their faith in the own way.

If somehow the voices of the those followers of Islam that oppose the methods of the extremists (such as Al Quaeda) could rise above the voices of those that speak falsely, it will create a sea of change in the way that the West perceives them.

For background purposes, I am a practicing Buddhist.

I see that you are a more liberal type of muslim in that case it is good to make your acquaintance.. I do not understand a lot of points about islam. for instance why we are suppose to believe that you are a people of peace when; if someone says anything against muhammed then he is suppose to be killed? OR the fact that all are infidels unless they are some form of islam? and then your quran says to kill the infidels in so many words? Or I also wonder why people say that you worship the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob? when the research shows that the term for allah comes out of the ancient babylonian empire? just some questions that I had about the whole "peace" thing????

It is not ignorance but common sense which enables people to see what Islam is really about. Muslims will not condemn the attrocities committed by fellow Muslims. Young Muslim men born in this country spout hatred for their fellow non-Muslim citizens and plot to kill and maim anyone who is not a Muslim. Innocent people who go to Iraq to help the people there end up being captured and beheaded. Muslims want to kill and maim those who are not Muslims, so where does peace come into it?

Most don't generalize. I take it one person at a time. But.. facts:

Palestians had democractic elections. They elect Hamas, whose stated goal is the destruction of Isreal (not very peaceful). Not that I'm a fan of Isreal's actions, but peace between those two factions is a 2 state solution, and that is a nail in the coffin. The vote for Hamas was a vote for violence. No surprise to see the kidnappings and the result.

Hezbollah - their stated goal is the destruction of Isreal (not very peaceful). Need we say more. Iranian republican gaurd were seen in Lebanon during the latest war. Not picking sides (no love for isreal or their actions), but there were not peaceful actions on the part of many islamic countries.

It's hard for the west to accept "religion of peace" while seeing innocent children blown up by bombers, and the actions of so many countries across the region such as these.

They cannot see.
ختم اﷲ علی قلوبھم و علی سمعھم

But here is one more thing. Many of them want to see, but cannot see because of what media is telling them. It is Muslims fault and their Ulamas that they do not have a single satellite which they can use to inform the world about truth. People do not have time to watch Al-Jazira when they listen to what they want to listen on the CNN etc. If Muslims have their own satellite and they start showing people what they want to see and then introduce the truth (not the truth of Islam, but the true facts), people will pay attention. It is important to tell them the truth in their own language, not in Arabic.....

But all this I am talking is bull as no one is going to do that. Muslim countries have their own channels and what they are showing is only inspiration of the non-Islamic culture.

because when someone shows a picture of your prophet, thousands upon thousands of Muslims in several countries riot, burn buildings and kill people.

because when the pope quotes a 700 year old document there are immediate rallies and people DEMANDING an apology.

because there are no riots or rallies against Osama Bin Laden and Al Quida when they have done more to deface the religion than any American Infidel ever could dream of doing.

because Muslim governed countries are constantly hiding these criminals. and (Pakistan) is singing peace treaty's with them.

there were no world wide riots when Bin Laden's goons flew 3 planes into our buildings. killing 3000 innocent Americans.

Muslims tend to be outraged over cartoons and minor comments.
but seem to lack outrage when some terrorist kills hundreds of people in the name of your religion.

your lack of action is precieved as support for the terrorist factions.

If i lived in ANY Muslim country I would have to hide my religious beliefs for fear of being killed. just because i believe in different and more gods than what they do...

i could go on for about an hour here, but i think that you get my point.

I'm an English Roman Catholic and I'm only too aware of those who hate Catholicism (you will find them on Answers) and seek every opportunity to criticise it. Of course they lie through their teeth - or stretch a point - or take something out of context in an attempt to justify themselves. Only those who have no clue about Catholicism are taken in by such rubbish.

Don't be too surprised to find people doing the same to Islam. I'm from a town in England that has a large Moslem minority, so I know that the majority of Moslems are peaceful. However, there is also a minority of Moslems that are not - and these are the one's who make the news, just as they did in my home town - Oldham.

I understand what you are saying. I am not Muslim myself but I'm from a Muslim country and I'm grateful I can see what Islam is for myself. A lot of people are fed images from the media and anti Islam propaganda. There is also a lot of hate generated from the actions of those Muslim radicals and these people look for a scapegoat, as wrong as it is. People stereotype because they don't want to think, the media creates these nice and easy associations. Those who kill in the name of religion are the most Godless of all. It upsets me terribly.

Look deeper into Islam? No thank you. Islam denies that Jesus is God's son, that He died on a cross for my sins, and that He is the only way to heaven. I've no further interest in Islam.
