It's not like I work in some Fortune 500 office. However, I do want to dye my hair back a blonde, or at least have some highlights. My hair is naturally dark brown. Over a year ago I wore it ear length, curly, with multi shades of blonde. Patients, strangers and coworkers loved it, and of course I. This year I decided for a temporay change and cut off all my hair and grew it back dark. Surprisingly, there was an overwhelming "acceptance" to this new look, epecially management (a little too much if I say so). For the first time, I actually received feedback on my work appearance from those higher in office. Time has gone by and the hair grew, however that's not enough; I want the color back. If not blonde, at least some light brown shades. I'm hesitant, management may show some disapproval now after so many years. Why can't I change when those other offices can "alter" their appearance? Change is everywhere. Or is it because I'm a man?

You might as well. If you get sacked, sue them! After all, I'm sure if you had to wear some Islamic headscarf or whatever, they would be too scared to mention it (from a legal perspective). Why should minority pressure groups have all the fun?

No, my mother is a manager of a large department store and she has to deal with things like this all of the time. Dyeing your hair when you know that you aren't supposed to shows your employer that you have little respect for rules that are set in place. It's not even something that could only cause you to lose your job. If you are let go, it is something that could follow you to wherever you go next. Your current employer could say that you undermined their authority or that you had a lack of respect for rules and regulations. Not things that you would want to follow you to your next job.
::EDIT::
Scratch all of that then... If you aren't dyeing it any extreme colors, there should be no problem. Since you are a man, you will probably get a few comments made about dyeing your hair, but I'm sure that you really wouldn't mind it if you already have your mind set on wanting the blonde hair again. Go ahead and dye your hair. As long as it isn't bleached, there should be no problems. I guess a rule of thumb would be to go after colors that are found in natural hair tones.

Since your other questions indicate that you work in a medical office, I would say as long as it is tasteful, go for it. They cannot discriminate against you for dyeing your hair because you are a man, it's illegal. If you were a woman, I doubt that they would care.
Start with a gradual change, then slowly add more and lighter colors. Your managers won't notice it as soon, and it won't look as obvious. When you get to the point that they say something, then maybe stop adding blonde.

I would only do some subtle high lights in the front,only two shades lighter then your natural hair color or I would leave it as it is. Is high lighting your hair really more important then your job? If they find a way to can you because of your hair,can you find a job just as a good or better then this one?

If you management doesn't want you to, then I wouldn't because you could get fired but only if you want to dye it a crazy color like blue or green. If you are planning on dying it a regular color-black, blond, brown, or red-then I don't think that they should have a say in it. They shouldn't be able to fire you just for that...I think it's illegal or something...discrimination?

surely if they sacked u over tht u can sue for unfair dismisal unless they specifally say in your contract u may not dye your hair.
goodness knows why they changed towards u but if they base how well u do in work on your hair colour they arent really worth working for.

They might not employ you if you go against their wishes.
You might not have what they want.
E.g. Modeling agence
But if you want to risk it, you can.
Just be careful what you wish for.

If your "management" doesn't like your hair you might not be employed anymore. so if you don't like your job...go ahead. :-)
