I've been noticing that my dog has little black crusty spots on the inside of her ear. It's not ear wax, but I don't know what it is. Do you?

Its ear mites, and the only effective treatment is from the vet. Its a common problem and the ear drops are not expensive.
Please don't mess around with home remedies or stuff from the pet shop! They're a waste of time and money, the longer you leave this the worse it gets.

Hi there, I work with animals at a rescue. Please do not do what Cruggiano has told you, by using hydrogen peroxide. This is a form of bleach and used to be used to turn ladies hair, bleached blonde. When a donkey had foot rot, I had to treat it with hydrogen peroxide, by pouring the substance into his hoof. It fizzes and kills all the bacteria. However, the skin would be eaten away, and you would be left with your dogs ears in a very bad way. This process may also permanantly deafen him.

To be on the safe side, visit you vet. It may not be anything serious, however, on the other hand it might well be. No point taking advice to treat a problem your dog doesn't have. Make sure from the start, by getting a professionals advice. Better to be safe than sorry.

Your dog could have had fleas bite her and the spots are crusting over. And, it could be caused by ear mite and the ooze has dried, therefore causing it to look like crusty spots. Try cleaning her ears with a cotton ball and baby oil. Then, get ear mite medicine and use it twice a day. If it doesn't respond, take her to the Vet.
