In my experience with that type of medications is that the meds would make my appetite increase and I would eat more than I normally would. This naturally caused me to gain weight. I continued to eat more and more. I didn't lose the weight back until I stopped taking that medication. Everyone is affected in a different way though.

No it would not. I have a sister, who take med, for mental disorder, and she think she need a full meal to take with her med. but I told her just dont take on a enpty stomach, a fews crackers and a tes cup of milk would work, but her med, and her eating habits, she gotten really large.she use to weight out.105 now within a year she weighs,240 pounds. and so big, she has trouble breathing, and will not try to work out. so ... do some daily actives. eat small amount of foods speacially if you taken with the meds.

i think it has an INdirect effect, rather than direct -- meaning it could be that the medication is not making you gain weight, but the effect on your body does. case in point -- for somebody who's trying to quit smoking -- they gain weight. they think that it's the cigarettes that's been keeping them in shape all along -- but the truth is, they're temporarily suffering from withdrawal symptoms -- and they tend to eat to distract themselves from it.

either way -- NEVER ever stop a medication immediately or make some dosage changes WITHOUT a doctor's supervision.

I have 2 friends that gained weight from those pills, but they also took them for a really long time. They had to watch what they ate, and did not lose the weight easily. Sorry.

the medication affects the thyroid gland, which affects metabolism, there are some yoga postures(the shoulder stand for example) that kinda massage or stimulate the endocrine glands(hormone producing glands of which the thyroid is one) and help to regulate and maintain a healthy balance within your body.Look up gita yoga, you may find a book at your local library or they may be able to order one in for you.

It hasn't for me. Then again, I've always been the fat kid so taking anti-depressants was just not a help. (If that makes sense).

Good luck. Maybe persistence is the key...
