The Bible is specific that it only rained for 40 days and nights. Although it says the mountains were covered, is specifies the height of the water as 15 cubits, or about 27 ½ feet. This suggests that it rained on average about 1/3 inch per hour, or 8 inches per day for 40 days to increase the water by 27 ½ feet over the world, or in a local valley. If it had been a Global event, then it could be found in archeology, glacier samples, historical records, the life and death of species and many other methods. Physically, it has not been discovered.
First test: If the story of the global flood were not in the Bible, would it change my faith? No, it wouldn’t.
Second test: Does the effort to convince people that the story of a global flood is true, by faith, cause them to disdain faith in God? Yes, in many cases it does.
Then, it is an issue of faith, and should be taught that way, not as a fact.

Since the whole story was lifted from the Epic of Gilgamesh, the serial numbers filed off and then presented to the early Hebrews as an explanation of the rainbow, nope, not gonna change my mind at all.
But, it DOES have a few important points to make about God.
1.That the Lord God is so powerful He needs nothing and no one to exercise His will for the world.
2.That despite great provocation He nonetheless shows mercy on His creation. He didn't, after all, destroy it when he could easily have done so and started over with a whole different creation.
3. He makes promises to us that He has no need to make and then He jolly well keeps them, even when they prove difficult or it seems improvident on His part to keep them; which is more than we can say about our own promises.
And of course, the tale is about faith. The whole of the Bible, BOTH Testaments, is primarily about faith in God and what KIND of God you are being asked to be faithful TO. Any history in there is supernumerary and is gonna have to look out for itself.

Well, if Noah's Ark and the great flood never would have happened, I will still believe in God. For me, the truth that causes me to have faith in God Almighty is Jesus Christ dying on the cross. Someone has such great love for me that He would sacrifice his only begotten Son for my sins and to give me the chance to be worthy of Heaven by accepting this is a person worth believing in.
There have been too many wonderful things that have happened in my life since I accepted Christ for me not to believe. Also, I believe that the Word of God (the Bible) is truth. Also, Jesus said in the Bible, " I am the way, the TRUTH, and life. No man come to the Father but by me. Therefore, I believe Jesus is the Bible. So, how could I possibly pick and choose what things are true and what things are not. In order to say well this scripture is true, and this one is not, would be me saying that Jesus is not truth. Therefore, he could not be perfect. But of course He is, so that would not be possible.
So, yes I believe everything in the Bible.

I believe the Bible is the Word of God. I believe the story of Noah and the flood to be true. People probably thought Noah was nuts when he was building the ark. Noah did exactly what God ask him to do and he built the ark to God's specification. I don't think Noah even knew what rain was. Gen.2;5-6---------------The rain came in Gen.7:4 With things I have read and seen on TV lately about the Ark, I think it would be safe to say that it happened. I believe it solely because it is in the Bible- God's Holy Word

FROM WIKIPEDIA:
Many scientific objections have been raised concerning the proposed mechanics of flood geology, which often require the suspension of basic laws of physics - something which mainstream science sees as being extremely improbable. A massive flood of the size suggested by creation geologists is extremely difficult to reconcile with basic physical laws. In particular, the amount of water required to cover the Earth's entire surface is enormous and no naturalistic mechanism exists that can explain where it came from or where it went. The mechanisms proposed by creationists to account for the fossil record, lithospheric layering, and tectonic formations are rejected by the vast majority of geological scientists. In short, mainstream geologists consider it to be pseudoscience, and old-earth creationists agree.

As far as changing faith, I think it could only do so if someone has a stake in believing the Bible to be literally correct.

I have a personal relationship with Him,that's how I know He is real. Noah's ark has nothing to do with the reason I believe in God.History and science have proven a flood.

I know that God exists because if He didn't exist then the Bible would be a lie but the Bible is the word of God and God never lies. So it is proven fact that God exists.

No, I do not strictly believe in the Flood story, but it is a very good illustrative myth showing God's wrath and God's mercy.

Noah's story is one of the reasons I believe the Bible was written by MAN. Not so much because the whole idea is improbable, but more because of what happened after the waters receded.
Noah got piss drunk and exposed himself and one of his sons saw him naked. In his anger, Noah then proceeded to condemn the sons of that son to slavery forever.
And THIS is the man God thought was righteous enough to save?!
Sorry.... not interested in worshipping that sort of God.
