Ha,

In the age that we are told that our kids are obese and we as a nation are getting fatter the fasion council are starting to ban 'super thin models'. This I can only imagine is because of the worry of anorexia type disorders. If that is the case then why is our population getting fatter could it be reverse psychology?????

Maybe, but I personally think it's due to people not wanting to stop eating when they need to. There are so many chances walking through any town to stop in and eat something full of calories and fat. Obesity rates are due to a lack of discipline and exercise, not due to people getting scared of anorexia.
As health professionals become more conscious about obesity rates rising, that is all that we hear about, but anorexia is still as prevalent as it has always been, we just don't have it rammed down our throats as much.

Just proves my point that models being thin is not a problem. The number of obese people vs the number of people with eating disorders says it all. People need re-educating about food and what is healthy.

I think the problem is more a result of convenience. Too many people don't eat right (or feed their children right) because it's so easy to buy pre-packaged foods. Advertisements for these foods don't help the problem, especially when many of them are advertised as "healthy." A lack of knowledge is also a problem. People tend to eat the way they were brought up eating. If your parents don't serve vegetables regularly, you will probably not eat them regularly when you grow up.. and then you will feed your children the same way.

I believe that women realsie they can never be like the super skinny models and so give up totally on trying to get thin. If we had more natural looking women to aspire to, we may feel like we could actually get somewhere near them healthily and so be more confident in dieting/healthy eating and exercise. It's like putting an unclimbable mountain in front of us and telling us to climb it. Then giving us a big hill and telling us to climb it. You'd be more willing to give it a go and when you achieve it have more confidence and self worth. If you tackle the mountain and fail you are left feeling failure and don't try again, give up.......(And get fat)......

Super sized food, getting rid of PE in elementary schools, too much TV, and pure laziness are to explain for the obesity in the country.

i dont think its the worry of the anorexia type disorders its the worry of self esteem since most of america is so fat people feel bad about themselves and in todays society no one can feel bad enough to change themselves for the better because we need to be ourselves even if that means being fat. :-\

No reason to move and large portions are to blame. Just like bad habits, good habits are easy to achieve.

It's just down to lazy parents who can't be arsed to feed their children properly.
