I don't know if there's an organized movement per se. But it's not something to be concerned about, unless the First Amendment scares you.

Its frightening and sick. The mega churches seem to be the 'spawning centers' of this ideology. It is frightening to think that young children are being trained to use religion as the basis for all political issues. The push for a theocracy may not be terribly far off in the future.

Overall though, there is an anti-intellectualism that pervades this movement. There is little to no examination of the faith from an academic standpoint. There is little to no examination or knowledge of the original biblical languages, early Christian history, classical theology (much of which I disagree with but at least it is grounded in rationalism), or the history, sociology, economy, literary styles, and culture of the Biblical world. This is dangerous because when these facets of the Christian faith are ignored, it becomes much easier to make the Bible say what one wants it to say, which is why the fundamentalist movement has twisted and distorted much of the original meaning, intent, and radical beauty of the text.

This is definitely something to be concerned about. Education is, in my opinion the only way to combat this movement. Unfortunately, most people don't want this type of knowledge but instead flee to the megachurches where they can exist in ignorant bliss. Great question friend, hopefully this movement will fail so that Christianity might rise up to be respectable again.

I'd say yes. Look at all the "mega" churches and you'll see scores of people around 20 who are almost hypnotized by the show going on up front. Even the people most vehement on YA seem to be young. It's actually somewhat frightening. There's no zealot like a young zealot, so heavy early indoctrination is a cornerstone of almost every religion.

yes, there is a movement, but no, there is nothing to worry about. I am one of the evangelicals, and this movement is about caring for our fellow man, to help the poor and needy, and to be stewards of the planet God gave to us. It's about freeing the oppressed (like the people in China and Iran), not about killing every non-Christian like some of the people on here think.

it's a nice blend of nationalism, god, guns, and evangelical values

next step after accepting this ilk is fascism and corporate sponsorship of god fearing soldiers....just like Hitler and his country was led down this path in same fashion

Any rationally thinking person should be very concerned about this insidious and pernicious mind poisoning of the young.

I don't know. But I know there is Jesus Camp, a place where kids can go and learn how to use swords and machine guns againist the "evil" non-christans.
