Dear Tina,
One of the greatest tragedies of the "church age" is that they have not understood what the Lord says in Mark 4:33-34. The Lord spoke in parables! And this is not only where God says, Hear a parable.... The whole Bible is written in metaphors and parables! Seondly, we need to follow the rule that the Lord lays down in 1 Corinthians 2:13... comparing spiritual things with spiritual .... That means when we study a word of theme in the Bible we have to look at everything the Bible says about that word or theme. For example, if look up the word "faith" you will find that it is a synonym for the Lord Jesus Christ. Go to Hebrews 11 and everywhere you see the word "faith", put in Jesus Christ or Christ. You see the Lord is the ONLY ONE who is faithful.
In regards to your question, "fruit" is often refering to people who have been born again (saved) although I do not have the verse in front of me. Please look at Amos 8:11. God is telling us here that there is going to be a famine in the land of "hearing the word of God." This is a terrible thing because an individual can only be saved by hearing the word of God --Romans 10:17. "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." There is much more that I can say but I want to point you to my references below. Everything on this website is free. You can download the items or call and they will send it to you. I hope this will help you.

This meant that as fruit was fully ripened by the summer sun, so Israel was ripe for judgement.
