I think it's happened to all of us at some point in our youths.

What was the reason mommy/daddy/aunty/grandma/etc. forced you to get a new look?

Thought it'd look cute?

As a punishment?

Let's hear what you guys have to say on the subject!

I was in 4th grade and my aunt took me to get a perm...which I was all about and that would be cool....UNTIL, the stylist cut my hair so short that I looked like a boy :-( I had this mullet-like haircut with tiny poodle curls...it was horrible and that year's picture of me in the yearbook is something I don't want ANYONE to see.

Once when I was a pre-schooler I went with my grandfather to the barber shop while he got a haircut and shave.I wanted to sit in the chair and get a haircut; so my grandfather supervised and a grand time was had by all. When we got back to my grandmother's and all the women there burst into tears I was amazed because I thought I looked adorable with my realllllly short hair. When my mother got there she did NOT agree with my preceived degree of adorability. My grandfather never cried but I bet he wanted too...did I mention the guys in the barber shop were all drinking? I told my mom that andthe yelling started again..

I definately have.
When I was about seven, my hair used to be really long (lower back) and my mom decided that it didn't look 'cute'. My hair was really curly at the time too and thick. She cut it (herself) into a bob. She told me it looked adorable but I hated it. A bob with thick and naturally curly hair looked horrible on me. Since then, I've never let her cut my hair. I do it myself.
I'm 18 now and the first time I ever let anyone else cut my hair since was this summer when I donated 15 inches to Locks of Love.

OH YEA!!!! When I was a kid, I had long, beautiful spirially curls. My mom didn't condition my hair at the time, so when she got tired of taking care of my hair, she had it cut to a bob. I looked like a boy. I haven't had short hair since, and I refuse to have my daughter's hair short unless she want's it to be.

No I could pretty much wear my hair as I wanted it. My boyfriend in high school had sort of long curly hair, he got busted for drugs and his parents made him get a military style hair cut.

When I was 4-8 years old, my aunt made me go get a haircut just like hers and it made me look like a boy. One time when I was at the airport going to Europe, I was going to the restroom and I was right at the door and this lady behind me thought I was a boy so she said, " Go to the little boys' room you little perv." I was so shocked so when she went inside I sneaked in after her and hided under the sink til she was gone. lol Everyone laughed when I told them.

Yes. They did think it was cute.

I was five years old (I had kind of thick hair) and they cut it right above my ears. Whenever I wore pants (and even once when I was wearing a dress!) people always mistook me for a boy. I hated it.

No, never. I always got to chose whether or not I wanted a haircut and how I wanted it. But I basically have to same ideas of haircuts as my mom so it was never a problem.

oh god yes. i was like in 4th grade and i was sick and tired of hearing my father go on about how i should cut my hair short, so i did it. HUGE mistake, especially since i had curls. it was atrocious. thats probably why i've had my hair long ever since, and the compliments on it are never ending. never took his advice again.

Heck yes, my mom was mad that I did not like the last cut I had, so I got a new one that was awful.
