The real poor and have nots etc have to shop somewhere, all the birds have grey track suit bottoms on, tattoos, fags dangling from their lips, love the fu@@ and cu@@ words and like to get it done early then they can rush home to see if any of their family are on the jeremy kyle show.

I have a good enough income not to shop at Lidl and Aldi for budget reasons - BUT I must come to the defense of Lidl. The food they have their is exactly what you would find in europe and most of it is excellent quality - I think that we as a country have just got far too snobby about our "labels".

The cold meats and fish (*especially* the salmon) are much better quality than 'english' supermarkets and its a bonus that its also fantastically cheap. I find it hilarious that Waitrose snobs turn their noses up at Lidl, yet the quality of Lidl's salmon and european wines sh*ts on Waitrose from a great height.

Granted *some* of the produce at lidl is decidedly dodgy (bread especially) so I do tend to shop at other supermarkets to supplement. But its about time some of you people realise that quality food doesn't just come from english supermarkets. Lidl does actually sell good food, if you're well travelled enough to know what you're looking for.

You have got to be kidding!! Have you actually gone in to any of those shops with your eyes open. They are full of european foods. The fact they are so successful proves there is a huge market for them. Lots of british people from time to time have lived abroad or strangely want to try other countrys foods.
Check the quality of Iceland food, it has gone down hill by a marked percentage and people have stopped shopping in the stores which is why Iceland have sold off many of their stores to people like Marks and Spencer.

Nothing like doing your research before asking the question eh

Whats the point of you asking this question? Lidl and Aldi offer quality food at reasonable prices and if you had any sense you would know that, they are better than the wankers Tesco,Asda or all the other **** supermarkets.

Lidl actually do some very good produce that you can't get elsewhere at reasonable prices, and its fruit and veg selection is excellent and often discounted.

No, it's so us ordianry folks can shop in peace without being disturbed by snobs like you who would rather pay three times as much for the exact same stuff.

Both of these stores have lines of food that are actually manufactured by large brand name companies. They are then repackaged to be either "generic" or 'brand name" but they are the exact same product.
