A constant diet of wet food may be to your dog's liking, but it is not healthy for him. You need to buck up and get a good quality dog food (dry) and not cave in to your dogs demands for something else. A healthy dog will not starve to death if she has food available. If she is losing weight and not eating properly, you should probably make sure there is nothing medically wrong first. NO PEOPLE FOOD! he will never switch to dry dog food if he thinks you will break down and give him what he wants. Good Luck

he should be eating dry food(you can mix canned with it, but canned food alone is not good for him) Try giving him a QUALITY canned food (such as Nutro or Iams) MIXED with a QUALITY dry food (Nutro or Iams). Start by changing his food gradually(1/2 new canned w/ 1/2 old canned with about 1/4-1/2 cup of dry). I'm not positive on the measurments of the dry, so read the bag. You say he won't eat dry food(he needs it)...Have you looked at his teeth to see if maybe it hurts him to chew it? If his teeth are o.k., there is no reason why he shouldn't start eating the dry/canned mixture. Do not give him table food! When you feed him, do so on a scheduale(i.e. feed him when you sit down for dinner) at the same time/times every day. Put the food down, give him 15-20 minutes to eat, then pick it up. If he doesn't eat the first time, chances are he'll eat at the next Schedualed feeding. And get rid of the cesars, it's like feeding him junk food.

Simmer up a little beef stew for your dog. That's the meat, carrots, potatoes, celery is probably OK too and it will make a nice gravy for him. Reduce the "sauce" rather than adding a thickening agent to it. Some bones are OK in there too, just don't feed them to the dog after they are cooked. The nutrition from the bones will be in the sauce. And don't use as much salt or other seasonings as you would for yourself.

Dogs tend to plow into things with great abandon and overeat causing them to throw up so start off slowly. The stew will last for days in the fridge. You can do the same thing by stewing a chicken or veal or lamb.

I feed my cats a raw meat diet and they have never thrown it up. On dry food I get occasional vomiting. Wholesome human grade meat and vegetables should be perfect for the dog.

Canned food is fine to feed a dog but it takes far more of it to maintain weight then it does a dry/wet combination.
Get a good quality dry food such as Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Innova, Solid Gold, Premium Edge, Wellness, Canidae, etc. Mix some canned food in with it. If you do a gradual switch you shouldn't have any stomach upsets.
Some human foods are fine..foods such as chicken, turkey, ground beef, sweet potato, pumpkin, squash, green beans, apple slices, carrots, watermelon are fine. Just don't add any spices to them.

Okay, first of all that paragraph needed to be more than just 1 long sentance. It's hard to read.

Second...If your dog is too skinny, feed him more. If he gets too fat, feed him less. If you're still worried, call the vet on the phone. Usually they'll help you solve problems like this over the phone free of charge.

Small dog's wanna be spoiled. I hate small dog's they are no fun. I have a Chocolate Lab. She's full blooded. Also, She is a great dog to own. I wouldn't ever own a small dog. My mom has a westland terrier, I hate that dog. She jumps on people including myself. I don't like that. My Chocolate Lab is clam that's cool. My point is have a bigger dog. They will protect you better. You will also enjoy it.
