i have twins that are 5 and a 6 yr old boy (they are 13 mos apart) so i remember all about being tired! i never "put mine in for a nap" as you phrase it when they were in preschool but they would just naturally wind down and get tired and rest on the couch. but i really dont see anything wrong with it if you need some time to yourself! mine still rested on their days off and sometimes fell asleep too. now the twins are in full day kindergarten and my 6 yr old in 1st grade so no naps or rest at all.

Of course it's okay! Try to get her to nap at the same time the preschool does it. This will help her schedule so that she's used to sleeping at that time. Like some others said, the only potential problem with napping is that she won't want to sleep through the night. So don't let her sleep too much, or too late in the day; and if she has trouble at night, shorten her nap.

Taking a nap for a 3 yr old is fine.My childrens ped. told me to cut off taking naps at 7pm because they won't want to go to bed at night. It seems to be a good rule.I can see where you need the rest. My kids are 16 months apart. All 3 yr olds are different, just make sure that your child isn't going to bother the baby or accidently hurt the baby, the doors are locked, all things put away they could get hurt on, and another thing is that there is the possiabilty that your child could get into something, unlock the door etc. I would just hate for that to happen to your child.I know your tired and you need a nap.Your child may lay down in bed with you and nap.Thats how I do it because i am scared my child will unlock doors and get hurt, kidnapped etc.And if that happens you could be in big trouble. I know that because this exact happened to my sister. She fell asleep and her 2 yr old unlocked the door and road his tricycle to my moms house. The neighbor called the police and social services came to her house. You could even have them taken away.Maybe you should see about someone coming over to help you on the weekend for a few hours so you can rest.I don't have anyone to do that but my hubbie but some people do.If you don't then try laying baby down and one yr old down in there beds for nap.Turning cartoons on in your room and telling 3yr to not get out of bed without waking mommy, don't answer door or phone, don't go outside ever, etc.Tell him/her its naptime with mommy. This usually works and then you know your child is with you and not running around "playing" while you are asleep. This is the time most kids will get into things, get hurt, mess, etc.I hope this helps you.

oh yes its okay, i have a 3.5 and a 21 month old and i am pregnant. My 3 year old goes to Head Start and is in school from 8-2:30pm M-F, and she take a 1.5 hour nap a day. She takes naps on weekends here at home and they last anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours long but she goes down right after she gets cleaned up from lunch so she usually wakes up anywhere from2-3:30, and she is fine. well it never hurts a child to take a nap. my kids will probably take a nap here at home till they are bout 6 then we will probably stop them.

Yes it is fine. Even if she doesn't nap, Quiet time in the middle of the day is a good idea.

My son who's approximately to be 5 next month, sleeps from approximately 8pm til approximately 7/7:30am so as that's approximately 11 hours. From what you're sayin your infant is waking up at around 3am, thats is merely too early for me....while my son and that i'm getting homestead from college, if he's drained we circulate exterior and play, and that usually is sufficient to get him to eight.
