Half these answers are a good path to food poisoning or damaging the food quality. If needed in a hurry place in a bowl in the sink and run under COLD water, in the plastic bag\wrap if possible. Medium pressure is fine. The water is still much warmer than the frozen fish. After about 10 minutes it should be workable. Use soon.
That's called force thawing and should only be done in a crunch. It's best to just put in the fridge the night before you'll need it.

I place mine in a ziploc type back. Seal it - make sure the air is almost all out, and put it in the sink full of hot water. It should take no more than 15 minutes to defrost - depending on big the pieces are.

Put it in a Ziploc bag and place it in warm water for a few minutes not hot water it makes the fish soggy and it falls apart when you cook it. They say you are not suppose to leave it out like that for health issues but I haven't had any problems so far as long as you cook it as soon as you defrost it.

I know it sounds stupid but don't listen to anyone telling you to leave it at room temperature or defrost under warm water, this is because you will have bacteria forming since you are leavuing it a a danger zone +40deg -140deg. The best way of doing it is by letting it thaw inside your refrigerator overnight or if you are in a hurry you can thaw it under running water but the water has to be cold not hot, or warm. It is a good idea to put it on a ziplock bag while you have under running water so it does not fall apart. do not play with food it can get u sick. Good Luck!

fish needs to be defrosted in the fridge not on the counter or at room temperature fish is not like meat or chicken. Defrost it in the fridge. Do a search on google and you can read why you do not want to thaw it at room temperature.

This works for any frozen fish. Just let it soak in ice cold water for about an hour. It should be good to go by then

put the frozen fish in a big Zip-Lock-Freezer bag. and put the fish in a sink full of cold water ONLY. (don't put it in hot water because of health purposes). and just let it sit there until it thaws out; and trust me...fish takes a long time to thaw out compared to chicken.
