The high priests in Vatican know that whatever they inherited from the past are wrong. Unfortunately, they cannot tell the people that fact because it will affect them as the authority for Catholicism.
How could Catholism be the true teachings of Jesus when it is by itself against the natural creation of this world. Why should Vatican worried about low birth rate in countries like Germany, France and Spain when they themself do not allow their priests to get married. Does God wants priest to be celibate? What are the proof that God ordered priests to be celibate? If celibate is a true Catholic teachings, why did God ordered Prophet Noah to bring a couple (male & female) of each animal species onto his Boat?

Thanks Chris E. But Jesus will be resurrected before doomsday to save mankind. Maybe he could get married by then. However, these priests only live once. So they missed the opportunity to have offspring whom could help them to spread the word of God.

VQ. Thanks for your explanation. It really shed some lights on this issue. I personally believe that all human kind should get married and have their own offspring. This would negate the problem of priest molesting boys and girls and also nuns.

Thanks Ramall & FR_Chuck for the enluightening answer. If that are the case, Pope as the highest Catholic authority should get married to potray a good example to other Catholics/Christians. Religious person should not have different way of life via a vis the lay person to whom they preach. The Pope cannot condemn people of pre-marital sex, AIDS and homosexuality if he himself a celibate.

fr_chuck. Thanks again for your explanation. It seems to me that Catholic institution since Paul's era keep changing "the rules" according to their whims and fancy. Did they consult God before doing this? Probably they also changed the content of Bible many times to suit their need as well, mind you Catholic priest were very powerful and greedy at that time.

I am NOT a fan or supporter of the Catholic Instituion and the Vatican. I agree with you that much of the Catholic dogma is bafflingly contradictory to the Bible. There are many, many examples. Here's two more glaring problems.
Eamples:
1: Jesus said we should call no man "Father". Yet the Catholic Church insists that we should call Catholic priests "Father" in direct defianace of what Jesus said.
2:. The Third of the Ten Commandments clearly states "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them." How does the Catholic church justify the use of many graven images? We are commanded not to use any pictures of Jesus, or medals of saints, rosaries, or religious statues. Yet the Catholic Churchs and devout Catholic households are full of these forbidden items. Personally, I don't even think it's ok to use jewelry that is in the shape of a cross.
Sorry to tell you, there is no logical explaination for the questions that you have posed. It is merely more examples of the Catholic Church making outrageously silly rules with no regard for God's explicit instructions.
One possible basis for the Catholic Church's insistance that priests shouldn't marry might be in 1 Corinthians Chapter 7. But even this chapter doesn't completely explain the Catholic Church's logic.
By the way, Where the heck did the Catholic Church get the absurd idea that this world requires a "Pope"? There is no scriptual basis for this.
My conclusion is that the Catholic church is full of jelly beans and the Catholic Church and the Catholic dogma should be benelovently ignored whenever possible. Find a Bible teaching church.

you are jumping all over the board without alot of knowledge about what you are talking about.
I would advise you to actually study about the Catholic church and its views on celibacy.
Noah had nothing to do with it, it had to do with the repopulatoin of the earth and that region of the world.
And it has nothing to do with birth control and populatoins of nations.
Even Paul in the bible, yep the bible, says it was better for the clergy to be unmarried, it was not a rule, but his preference.
Since a married man had the worries of a family that often got in the way of his ministry,
Next the Catholic Chruch for many years did have married clergy, the rule first changed that they could be married if they were married when they were ordainded but if they were single when ordained they would have to stay single.
This is the same rule that the Orthodox Church still has ( and I don't see you attacking thier beleif on this) But because of many factors, they changed the rule that all priests should be single.
Now this is only in the Roman Rite, there are many married priests in the Catholic Church in other RITES.
Also within the Roman Rite there are some married priests. A preist from another church, Anglican, Orthodox, or Independent Catholic, have been allowed to join back into the Catholic Church as a priest and they are married. There has been a few married Bishops, there was even a married Bishop that attended Vactican II. ( Iknow since he was previous with our group and went into the Catholic Church as a married Bishop)
And this is not part of thier doctrine, it is merely a rule, it could be changed tommorrow if they want to. it is a practice, not a teaching of the church

For many years priest had wives but then it was found it was getting in the way of some of the things the church wanted to do so it banned any marriage from then on and when the ones died out that had been married, no more were allowed. As for it being biblical, to a certain extent it can be said to be so but not entirely. Some of the Apostles were married as you will find if you read the bible closely. It is said in one place that it was better to be single if it was going to cause trouble for you to be with a wife. If all were celibate as the church teaches the leaders to be, how would there be anyone left to keep the church going into the future? That is why the church does not condone any kind of contraceptives as with them, there are not so many born so less chance of more priests coming up. All you need do it read the bible and really study it to see the Catholic Church is not all it is cracked up to be but goes against the bible more than it goes with it. I don't mean to be unkind but I have to be honest.

The tradition of Catholic priest being celibrate is based very much on Jesus Christ's life on this planet earth. Since Christ was single and very poor and did not have a home to go to at nght, That is the basis of the Catholic Church's view of what a priest life should be very much like Jesus Christ's. About the truth being hidden from the common people, that came out from the dark ages in which the common people couuld not read a book and all they knew of religion was from their churches and the stained glass windows tell the story of the Holy Bible.

When the Catholic church was founded, priests were not required to be celibate. Paul recommended that leaders not marry so as to be less distracted by earthly things, but never made it a requirement. Celibacy came about because the Church was greedy. Many priests, especially high ranking priests like bishops, became extremely wealthy. Like most parents, priests with families tended to leave their wealth to their children. The Church resented this loss and eventually forbade priests to marry, thus keeping the wealth in the Church.
Personally, I think expecting Church leaders not to marry is ridiculous. How are they supposed to relate to lay people and understand their problems when they have never experienced anything like them?

I would just like to propose one point as a reflection to your question...
Priestly celibacy is not a question of "restrictions" or "discipline" or "asceticism" or whatever else like that...at least not in the first place. Priestly celibacy is first of all a question of love. It is about Christ's unconditional love for man, and the priest's response to that love. The priest responds to the unconditional love of God by giving his own existence, his very being, all that he is and all that he does, back to God...in love.
I hope that this little reflection helps you to better understand what priestly celibacy is all about.
God bless you.

Look, anything that keeps members of breeder religions from breeding is a good thing. Now if we can just get the muslims to pick up this rule too. As far as your god,...... God is the end result of a failed search for truth by a very shallow mind, provided that any search was made at all instead of swallowing the pile of delusional bilge that was spoon fed to you as a child

The way I look at it, priests already have their wife -- the Church. They devote themselves entirely to it, and I don't think it's a bad thing to require celibacy.
