Since we seem willing to spend a billion dollars each week fixing Iraq, perhaps it isn't so unreasonable to spend some money helping to fix a nation that actually has a much greater effect on ours than does Iraq.

mexico is broken. It now has parallel governments...what will that ultimately lead to? I would imagine, civil war as each side squares off.
So, broken mexico looks around and sees the United States. A nation filled with success. Instead of thinking about "fixing" mexico, those in leadership have seen what we have and have decided to "take" it.
When a government publishes a pamphlet directing those who cross the border on the "things to say" if they are apprehended by officials here...they are looking to funnel their people in via Trojan Horse philosophy. They will saturate and cause our downfall from within. Then, mexico will come in and take what they want. American citizens are SO expendable. Actually, so are the mexicans. It's all about creeping power and agreements made behind closed doors.
Do I sound like an extremest? A year ago I didn't even comprehend this but now....I see it happening.
We must deny amnesty.
Build the fence.
Give border patrol agents the same authority as all other police factions.
Deport all illegals. Yes we can do it!

Disagree, based on the fact that the government of Mexico doesn't think there is a problem to fix. Many US companies have sent jobs to Mexico because they can get people to work down there cheaper than the people here in the states are willing to work for. Example: General Motors sent many jobs to cities across the border into Mexico. RCA has also sent many jobs to Mexico. I'm sure that there are many other US companies have sent other jobs there as well. Why would Mexico/US want to resolve this problem when they both seem to benefit from it? The US companies should be paying higher tariffs on anything that originally was produced in the US prior to NAFTA taking effect. But they don't, and this in turn benefits Mexico. All the really cool US companies are doing this, not just in Mexico. I think that corporate America has caused the problem, and should be held accountable for it. Even with the creation of jobs by US companies in Mexico, they still don't have the desire to provide jobs or social programs to keep their own people from crossing the borders illegally. Make sense?

Agreed they should fix their own problems, but as long as the pourous border the US and Mexico exists and the US continues with a hunger for cheap labor there is no motivation for Mexico to fix it's problems.
This situation provides a safety valve that allows those that are disastisfied with their home country, Mexico, to leave and reduces the amount of agitation internally for change.
Actually it is a classic migration pattern that has been going on since the mankind started breeding uncontrollibly.

More specifically, Mexico's government needs to fix Mexico. They need to take some of the wealth that is lining their pockets and put it back into Mexico by fixing up the poor areas first. The way I see it, all Mexican citizens and residents are eventually going to need to pay taxes. They wont like it, but it will help them greatly...they just need to tax the rich more. While many businesses and people do pay taxes there, there are many poor people that do not. It is all so political, and while I do know pretty much about it, I am not an expert. America never offered, nor were asked to fix Mexico's problems. I dont see the connection.

There are many corrupt and poor countries in this world. But tho I sympathize I do not want those people coming to America either.
The only way that Mexico will ever change has to be when the people rise up and demand change.if it takes a civil war then so be it.The "fix" must come from within its own borders.Don't you people see that its your government that has caused the poverty and lack of progress in your country.Your rich get richer because you allow it to happen.Stop listening to your government and leaving there to come to the US either illegally or legally .Your own country is doing this to you to get rid of the poor so they don't look bad to the human rights organizations. They make you the problem of the USA and if we don't help you we are called heartless. But its Mexico that is heartless to its less fortunate citizens. We in the USA welcome those that come to our country via the legal route but we can not be held accountable for Mexico's failures to address its own problems.
No amnesty
Deportation not legalization of criminals

I agree. I read on one of the answers where someone said, "America is so easy!" and that is very true. But look at it like this, because "WE" as Americans will not help America, Mexicans are allowed to come over and do the things that "WE" will not do. "WE" will not pick crop. "We" will not work at fast food places. "WE" will not serve others at restaurants and clean rooms. "WE" are too "GOOD" for that. So yeah, Mexico's problems will continue, until "WE" as Americans will get off our butts and "fix" our own problems.
Which leads me to another thought. . . we are so afraid of our own problems and being exposed to our flaws, that we have to interfere with everyone else and make ourselves look as though we can fix everything and there is nothing wrong with America.
Go figure!

Yes, you would think they would be embarrassed that their people are running away from their homes instead of staying and fixing Mexico. But that is what a 2 class system will do to a country.
