I had the problem and my doctor gave me some medicine that worked just fine. It is nerve wracking!! I don't understand why his doc says nothing can be done. I had NO pain, and the med worked, and that was over 40 years ago!! Get a second opinion.

Chow!!

I have tinnitus in both ears and thought I'd get my ears syringed in case wax was the problem. The nurse at the surgery burst one of my ear drums and now my hearing is dreadful. The doctor said to wait a few weeks to see if my hearing comes back before sending me to an audiologist. The tinnitus is really distracting and sometimes wakes me up out of sleep. Are you completely deaf? I've heard that people with tinnitus can benefit from wearing hearing aids. I wish I was able to give you something better than that for an answer but as you already know, there doesn't seem to be cure or something to make it a bit more bearable so far. I hope that the times your tinnitus diminishes gets longer and longer.

I have tinnitus too, and it is the worst! My doctor suggested acupunture, and I tried it. It wasn't covered by insurance, however, it really wasn't especially expensive. It didn't work for me, but there were people in the office lobby who swore by it. Maybe your husband would be one of the lucky ones.

This is a very irritating condition. He can track down experts in this field who do expiramental cures, but it's costly. Play white noise where you work and sleep. It will help. So will getting your mind off it.
