Yes this is the future of all Christians.. Christ is coming with a latte in one hand and a boom box in the other ...
This is just another sign of the end times when the apostate church will be in it's glory.. These folks will not stand when the persecution starts and they will just continue with their pizzas and lattes. Probably this is how the church was in the time of Noah.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mat 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.

The purpose of a church is for believers to come together and seek God through his word, through worship, through communion, and through fellowship. If these new churchs are doing this, there is no problem. however, if that is not the case, if they are in fact not actually studying Gods word, then there really is no point in being called a church. Furthermore, a "God is so cool" sermon is a good refresher, but there is alot more to God than just being cool. And if they fail to recognize or teach this, then they are doing no one any favors.

This is one of the more thought provoking questions I've seen here. I think it's brilliant marketing. Come as you are, listen to the rocking music, we will make you feel good about your relationship with God, all will be well and you will be saved. I used to attend one of these churches in it's start up days. It went from 50 to 500 people in 5 years. The pastor drives a new lincoln town car, has a miata for fun, a 42 ft sailboat, and now has his own cessna.
Give us your money and we will make you feel alright!
It's the ultimate intangible!

nothing new at all about them, this was the "in thing" back in the 1960 and 70s.
In the early church there were no church buildings, people meet in caves, or in homes of others and they meet around a large meal.
But the bible is not left anywhere, it is always there being taught in nice ways, by living it.
And they produce great Christians, as they did 40 years ago.
And at least the ones I know of, and often go to and support performs at, they teach the bible and have more bible readings than most real churches do.

The "God is so Cool" sermons is the kind of message this world needs. It can produce christians with higher self esteem. actually, we need more churches like that since hellfire preaching is not attractive in these days.

It is a gimmick to get the younger generation, like generation X and generation neXt into the religion of their parents. I really do not frequent those places myself, since I practice my own type of religion of praying and reading personal devotions and reading my own bible in my own room in my Dad's house.

When there is no call to arms the troops do whatever they please.
At one point or another all christians will have to come to terms with their level of faith. Thats a personal thing, and not for us to judge.
