Music education is the general thing you'll need.
It usually covers such topics as music theory, music history, music literature, pedagogy (how to teach), learning to play all the band instruments and give rudimentary instruction on each, conducting, marching band, among other specific interests you may have.

Most colleges that have music programs will offer a major specifically in music education, geared for those of you who want to teach music in a primary or secondary school. It will usually require that you fulfill standard music major requirements in performance, music theory, and music history, as well as complete a sequence in education courses and such. Every university will of course have slightly different requirements. It also depends on what state you go to school in. Every state has different rules concerning teaching certification, so college programs tend to design their requirements around what the state mandates. You can definitely expect that in addition to your principle instrument you will need some proficiency on the piano, and have some basics for most of the others. Many states also require that you eventually earn a master's degree to teach, regardless of the subject, although you can usually get a job with the understanding that you will complete a masters degree within five years or so. Look into some music programs online, and you'll be able to see what different schools require for a music education degree.

That's a pretty broad question. Obviously you need to study music theory, conducting, learn to play all the instruments, become very proficent at your own instrument, learn music education and general education principles. There's a lot to do, but if you have a love for music and teaching it's worth it.
