your question and comments aren't along the same line, in my opinion, so I'll comment on your question only.

The Pope had no intentions of putting down Islam. Islam wanted an apology or an explanation. The Pope gave an explanation, but Islam rejected it. The Pope has no need to apologize for a quote that was said in the 13th or 14th century. End of story.

For the Extremist Muslims, they are the bad guys in the world. I think the Pope generalized the Muslim population into one category, which was not too cool.
Let's think about this. If you know Muslims in general, here the the U.S., do you really think that terrorism is all on their minds? Seems to me that most Muslims just want to have a regular life like the rest of us, and the freedom to peacefully practice their religion. Otherwise, there would be quite a bit of terrorism going on in the U.S. these days, no? Now there are those fundamental extremists in other countries that feel the Western push of ideas and those extremists lash out. They would rather have life like in the 7th century, then have modern ideas corrupt there way of life. I'm not justifying their reaction, nor do I support there way of life, but then again, what would you expect if someone or many keep pushing you and your family to change....you may show a negative reaction in time.
Of course, Christianity did the same thing in the past. Remember the Crusades of Europe, or the forced conversion of indigneous peoples of North and South America. No doubt, there are still extreme Christians around to this day, but they so far have no motive to become terrorists....yet!
Of course, in modern times, there is a saying....not all Muslims are terrorists, but every terrorist lately has been a Muslim! Something to keep an eye on.

From what I understand, the Pope is concerned about the violent aspects of Islam put forward by radicals and extremists. The Pope has studied Islam throughly and understands that the majority of Muslims are not interested in terrorizing the rest of the world; they just want to live their lives. It is sad that a few (comparitively speaking) monsters are tainting an entire religion.
As for Catholics burning buildings, blowing up car bombs and generally killing people, ever here of the Inquisition? Or visit Ireland? You might learn something if you pulled your head out of your ***.

The Pope has no reason to apologize, he quoted a 14th century emperor and it was taken out of context. I know of no other religion in recent history that has been as militant, radical, and terroristic as the Islamic radicals. Almost all terrorist acts have been in the name of Islam, all beheadings, suicide bombing, and torture has been in the name of Islam. The rest of the world should demand an apology from the Islamic clerics, and a pledge for them to stop the senseless violence done by these so called true believers.

As an agnostic, I have to observe that the Christian,Catholic, Jewish and Taoist groups have not made their agenda the goal of blowing up as many men, women, and children as possible. And why do the Islamics keep blowing each other up? Hey, and give us Agnoistics a little credit.

So if the pope condones child-molesting by the priests, then what does that make him.
He condones it by having the priests lightly reprimanded at most or they are shifted around state to state, country to country to keep perpetrating these satanic acts. You will no doubt understand that this wickedness is known by God, these attrocious acts against the little children, I can hardly wait for the Wrath of God.

Exactly right!
You don't see the relatives of those in the towers or the planes taking revenge for 9/11.
This is the civilized way to act.

Sure, you don't see Christians flying planes into buildings, but you don't see Muslims invading countries based on false information. The pope shouldn't have said what he did because Islam has essentially nothing to do with terrorism. It forbids killing, just like Christianity does. Islamic leaders should not be asked to condemn terrorism, because that would suggest they were connected to it. Which they aren't.

And what's with people saying it's all right to insult Islam if you're quoting someone? What the f uck is that meant to mean? He still said it. He chose that particular quote because it said what he wanted to say, it's exactly as damaging as if he had made it up himself.

You are all ignorant. The new pope is a fascist, who served under Hitler and denounced God by doing so. He was, and will always be, a ******* Nazi pig. PopE John Paul II told u to believe in god and let others worship it as they see it- cause Jesus just doesn't fit in with Judism (even though Catholism first started off as a jewish sect), Musilm, Buddhist (in the Gnastic Gospels Jesus preaches the basic philosophies behind the Buddhist faith) or other world religions. ANd you ever hear of the crusades? Where catholics raped and piliged the middle east- killing muslims, jews, buddhists, and CATHOLICS!!! Read your history, you inbred motherfuckers, then come and talk. Thanks for calling....

Both the catholic and muslim religions are false religions that have horribly twisted the true meaning of the Scriptures throughout history in many ways. May be we should consider forming a new religion with a better understanding of the Bible to replace the false religions of the world.
