No. It is a myth. A cold is a virus that you get from another person. People believe that because you tend to catch a cold when the weather turns colder because you're more likely to be indoors and in contact with others who have a cold.

No!

People have colds during every type of weather, even if it's been the same for months.

Colds are caused by viruses entering your system, and not by wet feet, wet hair, or cold or damp weather.

In September, when kids and teachers go back to school (and the weather happens to be changing), families often notice more colds. That's because the kids are exposed to new viruses at school. Also, in winter, people tend to stay indoors, where a sneeze has nowhere to go but on the surfaces that everybody touches.

If you want fewer colds, wash your hands. Then, wash them again. You body will fight colds better if it's healthy, so eat well, excercise and do all those other things we all know about. You won't catch fewer colds (changing YOU does not change the number of viruses around you!), but you won't feel as sick with the ones you do catch.

Wash your hands a lot when you have one, too, and sneeze and cough into disposable tissues. Then the people around you will be less likely to catch it.

I think that the change in weather does have some effect to you getting a cold. I think that it may weaken the immune system a bit and then a virus or whatever else has more of chance to make you get sick.

Colds are caused by exposure to rhinovirus. The weather can create conditions where this event is more likely, (low humidity causing changes in mucous membranes, the crowding of people indoors to avoid the cold weather), but the cold itself is caused by a virus.

It's true, if the weather changes too fast from hot to colder you can get a cold, you can also get a cold when you go from hot outside to air conditioning and back outside and back in the air condioning...but just about the weather? Yes it does happen, so happens, I have a cold just because of that right now.

NO!!!! Colds are caused by viruses. The reason people catch more colds when the weather changes is because there are more people staying in to avoid nasty weather so a bigger exchange of germs is seen. Wash your hands!!! Use a tissue if you sneeze! And if you don't have a tissue cough into the bend of your arm or on your feet!!!! If you sneeze on your hand and don't wash it IMMEDIATELY without touching ANYTHING you are spreading germs that live for days, even on solid surfaces.

It's a myth. Colds are caused by viruses not temperature. Now what IS true is that weather changes can kick up pollen and environmental conditions that weaken the immune system and make you more susceptible to viral infection.

yes u can y? because changing the weather from hot to cold causes disturbances in your circulatory system in your body and your immunity and the resistance of the membranes to the microbes decrease , and hence infection occur and symptoms appear. so the best way to avoid this is to warm ourselves well in winter and avoid moving from cold to hot or vice verse.
