I really like this guy and I want to ask him to the dance so how long should I wait?

Ask him when you feel the time is right. I would ask about 1 week in advance though...just in case another girl is looking to ask him. You can do it gurly!! Have fun!! :)

I think the moment you think about it, you should do it. However, based on my own experience If I was in high school again I would make friends with cute guys/friends I liked who went to OTHER schools or religious meetings that I was a part of and I would ask one of them to the dance.
One year my little sister was having a hard time finding a date to the dance and she is cute and was on the basketball team and it seemed like some guys had either asked someone or whatever she asked only 2 guys and they said NO which is better than saying YES and not showing up.
so I asked my EX boyfriend who had a brother who was in the same grade as my sister and he was soooo cute. My ex asked me if I would pick his brother up from work one day and I said YES and when I saw him I thought he would be perfect to go to my sisters dance so I told him that i would help him get his outfit together and of course my EX thought it would be great for his brother to meet some new kids his age and so he got him a tuxedo and all this stuff and My Cousin was also in the same grade so my Uncle let them take the MINI Van and they double dated to the dance. Plus it seemed to work out great.
maybe if you have an older sister or brother they may have friends/love interests who have sibblings, cousins your age who would be happy to take you to the dance at another school.
I always had the BEST luck when I went to my High School dance with someone who didnt' go to my school but maybe the school up the road or something.
I think you should ask before some other girl does. Always have a BACK up plan. Don't miss your school dances they are so important and fun.

Ask him a week in advance. And as soon as the slow music starts playing and the other couples are dancing ask him to dance.

Uhhh like forEVER. Dancing goes like this in case you didn't know it: the guy asks the girl to dance. It's the unspoken rule of dancing and dating. Girls really need to stop taking over a guy's turf. What's left for him to be in charge of? Fixing the sink?
