"Give up smoking" is NOT an ignorant response. It is ignorant for you to continue engaging in an activity that poisons your body and that your body is explicitly rejecting! It's making you sick! It's poisoning your body! It's invading the abilities of your red blood cells to hold oxygen! It's destroying your lungs and your esophagus and your larynx! But if you think that it's ignorant to stop, then I nominate you for next year's Darwin award!

If you go for a while without a cigarette your blood oxygen levels return to normal. When you smoke a cigarette it reduces your lungs ability to get oxygen into the bloodstream. The lowering of oxygen in the blood is what causes the head rush. If you smoke on a regular basis you don't notice the head rush because the oxygen level in your blood is already low. Smoking deprives your brain of oxygen. Alcohol does a similar thing. I'm not exactly sure how it does it but if I were to guess I would say that it's because your liver is working hard to convert the alcohol in your blood to carbon dioxide. The increased levels of CO2 in your blood makes your lungs work harder at eliminating CO2 and less on supplying oxygen to your blood. The decrease in oxygen to the brain is what actually makes people drunk and for smokers it gives you a mild high. If you smoke too many cigarettes you can get nicotine poisoning which will cause you to feel nauseous. Hope this helps. BTW you really should stop smoking. I have smoked for a long time and I think it's possibly the worse decision that I ever made in my whole life. I'm 42.

There is nothing ignorant or inappropriate about advising you to give up smoking, and I do so. It is obvious that your body is trying to tell you something; are you too stupid to figure out what it is? Smoking is like playing Russian roulette with a revolver with two chambers loaded: the odds are one in three that smoking will KILL you, and probably most unpleasantly.

Honestly you might be allergic to smoke! My mother is the same way, she smoked for about 10yrs and was always sick, she gave it up and has been great ever since. See a doctor and get checked to see if it's an allergic reaction

Ok Mark. I will try to avoid saying what you asked not to but here it goes. I'm thinking you might not be that healthy to start. By this I mean you may have poor circulation. If your blood doesn't circulate well enough to pick up oxygen from your lungs than chances are you're setting yourself back more by allowing smoke to interfer. If you deprive yourself of oxygen you're going to feel like crap.

i am exactly the same way. it's the way our bodies react to nicotine, and it's known as a nicotine rush. it really sucks doesn't it? a friend of mine gets a nicotine rush as well but it causes her legs to be shaky... it's pretty creepy and we probably shouldn't smoke, but it's not really stopping me

That lingering feeling is death rattling at your doorstep.
Get smart - quit now.
You'll not only save a lot of money, but you just might save yourself an early death.
