No, you can't do that. You need to register your car in CA and get a CA license within 90 days of becoming a CA resident.

There are exceptions for military personnel domiciled in other states and out-of-state college students attending CA colleges and universities.

Here in AZ, your supposed to change over within 90 days, I would assume CA is simular.

The law says that you have 90 days to change the paperwork. So, you'll have to pay the tax man.

You're going to have to change it. Three years is too long, it would catch up to you.
