Egypt Catholics Fault Pope

"The pontiff's words have surprised the Catholics in Egypt and the whole East, as a point of fact," Qalta said.

CAIRO — The deputy patriarch of Egypt's Catholics on Saturday, September 16, attributed Pope Benedict XVI's anti-Islam jibe to his poor knowledge of Islam and Muslims, warning that the "surprising" remarks could play into the hands of ignorant Christians.

This pope is a jackass. He also said that rock n roll is the devils music, a fresh thought that has been around for about fifty years- and that was started by middle class white america to scare their kids from listening to black blues and rock. He has also said that guitars in church should be banned, due to their nature of turning up in rock and roll songs.
This pope was also a Nazi. Now I know, some of you will be pissedoff and let us know that he didn't have any choice, which he really didn't, but that isn't the fact here. When someone fought, enlisted, served for the Nazi empire (be it the German airforce, military, navy, or secret police) they denounced god. Let me say that again- HE had to of denounce God. In the place of God was Hitler. The begin and end all.... Why did the church pick this man (they where many other good choices, like a preist from Africa that fought Apartheid sytem, and many latin priests- which would have been a good idea since Catlolism is spreading like wild fire in latin amrica) when they have other options? It was because he served the previous pope so well. ANd never forget Karol Józef Wojtyła, or Pope John Paul II, and his mending of Catholics to other religions- like Judism, Muslim, Budhism, and other different religious beliefs than his own. He believed that they are the same at the end of the day, and that God was talking through all those people so us common folk could understand ourselves and the higher power more.
So to make this rant end- yes, this pope is ignorant.

The Pope has no reason to apologize, the full text http://www.cwnews.com/news/viewstory.cfm?recnum=46474 he quoted a 14th century emperor and it was taken out of context. I know of no other religion in recent history that has been as militant, radical, and terroristic as the Islamic radicals. Almost all terrorist acts have been in the name of Islam, all beheadings, suicide bombing, and torture has been in the name of Islam. The rest of the world should demand an apology from the Islamic clerics, and a pledge for them to stop the senseless violence done by these so called true believers.

The following was provided by another member in response to a similar question, it seems to reinforce the propensity toward violence.

Ishaq:544 “Muhammad commanded the people to prepare for the foray [raid, incursion, sortie, attack, or assault]. The Messenger informed his troops that he was going to Mecca. He ordered them to prepare themselves and ready their equipment quickly. He said, ‘O Allah, keep spies and news from the Quraysh until we take them by surprise in their land.'” Fundamental Islamic organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and al-Qaeda offer the same prayer today.

Ishaq:544 “Hassan incited the men, reciting: ‘This is the time for war. Don't feel safe from us. Our swords will open the door to death.'” And so it would be forevermore.

Qur'an 9.5 “When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, beleaguer them, and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”

it seams to me that you are making the same mistake the whole world made when they interpreted the words of John Lennon as wrong. went he said that he was more popular than Jesus. I am Catholic, and I accept completely what the Pope say, simply because he is the voice of Jesus in to day's world, don't you see what is happening, someone has to say something before the new "Big-Bang can begin, a/o before the Second coming can begin to be materialize, this is a time of great confusion don't you think?, make an effort and just try to think clear it gets even harder, God bless you in Jesus name. Amen.

hmm this is interesting, i will let you be the judge. In the books of men, the following titles are commonly used with reference to a man: "Pope," "Holy Father," "Vicar of Christ," "Sovereign Pontiff." All of these are titles that rightly belong only to the Lord Jesus Christ and to God the Father. There is not a single instance in the Scriptures where any of the above titles are applied to a man. The term, "Holy Father" is used only once in the entire Bible, and it is used by Jesus in addressing God the Father. (John 17:11). Among the above titles is the bold assertion that the Pope is the "Vicar of Christ." A "vicar" is "One serving as a substitute or agent; one authorized to perform the functions of another in higher office." (Webster). When one searches the Bible from cover to cover, he finds only one passage which gives an indication of a vicar of Christ or God. It is 2 Thess. 2:3-4 and is worded as follows: "Let no one deceive you in any way, for the day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and is exalted above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits in the temple of God and gives himself out as if he were God."

Have you actually read what the Pope said?

Here is a link to the English translation of the Pope's controversial speech: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/september/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20060912_university-regensburg_en.html

With love in Christ.

maybe you should be thankful you're not in a position of world recognition, with every word you speak being under a microscope. I wonder just how many of us who pass judgment so freely would be immune to the slanderous hateful things being said in here. He didn't speak a lie, if you disagree then I would challenge you to research it a bit further.

The Pope is reveling the truth. Yes, sometimes, the truth hurts.

Sin fuels itself with it's lust for sin.

Would not a smoker get defensive if you crushed their cigarrets and said, "Smoking causes cancer"? How would a morbidly obese person act if you took away their twinkies? The Pope is asking a culture to take away violence, and they are simply rebelling against giving up their sin (violence) which kills their minds, body, & souls.

Since their sin is violence, they treasure the insult so that they can participate further in their sin. Any reason to fight.

no, he is reading an original text from the 14th-century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos. so he is not ignorant of the emperor remakes. merely stating a historic record, a messenger giving annoucement plus bit & pieces of his own opinion added in.

This is an example of what religious belief can do to the otherwise well-educated mind. He's probably frankly astonished that anyone has taken offense at what he said.

I'm also let down his speech wasn't screened or in some way reviewed for possible consequences.
