Know Your Body Mass Index to Check if You are Overwight or Obese
The first indicator or sign of overweight is the visual appearance. Do you look disproportionate? Is the abdomen bulging? Are the hips protruding? Are the upper arms or thighs heavy? Is the face plump and puffy? The that is definitely the sing of overweight and then may be obesity.
The most accurate measurement of ideal weight for adults is to calculate Body Mass Index. Weight in kg divided by height in meter squared. So if your height is 160 cm you multiply 160 into 160 to get 2.56 meter square. They divide weight 60 kg by 2.56 to get BMI, which equals to 23.43. The ideal BMI is 21 or 22. 20-25 is normal. 25-30 BMI is overweight and 30 and more is obese.
Another simpler way to look at a good weight for height is to know your height in cm and minus 100. For e.g.. If you are 170 cm, minus 100, you should be around 70 kgs. Plus or minus two kgs depending on your born frame and muscle build. This is only approximate.
Prevention is better than cure. Watch what your children choose to eat. Even if they are normal now but eat a lot of fatty food daily, they are heading for trouble. Also if you find them and yourself becoming lazy, pull your self up. You will be slowly but surely heading towards obesity.
Make sure your diet is well balanced and regular, with plenty of fresh salad and fruits. Make sure you are active throughout the day and also take a 20-30 minute walk daily. This is necessary for children too. Studies and work is important but if the body and mind get unhealthy and dull, with all work and no play, all the ranks in the world and al the money in the world are useless.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Just be healthy. Height/weight models are only numbers. I've seen a great many 'skinny' people look just unhealthy and just as many 'overweight' people look incredibly attractive. I think it has more to do with overall health and inner view of oneself than actual numbers.
