This happenend with my dogs. I got a black lab and she stays with my two boston terriers. I know cats and dogs are unalike but this case is just the same. When Zoey (the lab) shoved Ginger the dog at my dad's house out of the way to eat I popped her and took up the food. WHen I put it back down she did the same thing.
At my grandmaws where she stays now we were out of dry dog food so we fed them cans. (the lab, and the two terriers)
She shoved our little but old boston out of the way after she gobbled hers down and I popped and chained her up.
Your cat must be aggresive towards food. Since my dog was the runt we think, they have a harder time getting food so it is there instinct to eat and get food. I think what you should do is feed them at the same exact time put the bowls down at the same time then, after the kitten is done eating and starts to eat the other cats pop it hard not abusing hard but hard enough to get it's attenion, pick the kitten up, and take it in another room like the bathroom and keep it there intill the big cat is done. I know this is harsh sounding but if you want your cat to get out of the habbit it is the best thing.
Best of luck to you!

I just got a new kitten too (congratulations!), we also have 2 other cats and 2 dogs (yeah, I know - a small petting zoo). In order to keep the dogs from eating the cat's food, we put it up on a small counter in the laundry room. This also prevents the kitten from eating it as it's too high to get at. This might help!

You should give each cat their separate bowls, and place them in different rooms. You may want to keep the new kitten in a laundry room or extra bedroom for a couple of days. in order for the older cat to adjust to it. Don't exclude the older cat, just cause u got a newer one. I mean he/she was there first.

One way to prevent this is to feed them in two separate bowls. Pour the food in the two bowls and place them on the opposite sides of the room. Place the kitten in front of one and the cat in front of the other. The kitten can't eat out of two bowls at the same time!

Separate bowls. Put one up high for the older kitty.
How sweet of your older kitty to defer to the kitten. That is one honey of a cat! Usually, they get busy teaching the kitten who's boss. :-)

You give the older cat a place to eat where that pesky little intruder can't get at her bowl. It is only fair, she is the older and first order of cat in your house.

Separate bowls. But if your older cat decided she has had enough of the squirt shoving her out of the way, she'll take care of it.
