I cannot see how honorable work can "make" one a "bad" Christian. Remember, your first duty is to God, and your next duty is to others. Acting and writing can lead to evangelical opportunities, and Christian messages without invoking the Bible or the church directly.

A lot of environments surrounding the acting profession are quite carnal and therefore tempting and can cause one weak in the faith to stray. Be strong. Search the Bible and search for God's will in your life. What has He called you to do? This sometimes is quite apart from what we want to do. Listen for the still small voice.

I believe there are living examples of good Christian writers and actors involved in secular art. Their numbers are small, but clearly, the artisitic professions themselves do not make bad Christians.

Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' {Deut. 6:5} This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' {Lev. 19:18} All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

We are told to use the gifts God has given us unto His glory. If you think the most wise use of your gifts is in the secular marketplace then that is where they should be used. Wanting to bring your light into the world is not a bad thing. Is having a nurse purse a sin, No, nor would piercings. None of the things listed make you a "bad Christian." However the fact that you came on here might indicate a lack of certainty on your part. If you're new in the faith that's completely understandable, but you need to delve deeper into the word and your own life to make sure you're being all that you can within God, before you start running out into the music scene. God bless You.

Using the gifts of singing and acting (which God gave you) is not a sin. However, cussing or singing about sex is a sin.
" I beseech you therfore, brethren by the mercies of God, to present yourself as a living sacrifice. Holy, and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed thru the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern the good and perfect will of God."
(Romans 12:1-2)

I am pretty sure everything else you asked falls under those verses.

If you are trying to conform to the world by getting your ears pierced and designer whatever, you are sinning. In other words, are you trying to be like the world? God will convict you if you have asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life. Look up the verses for yourself, and underline them in your Bible.

First off, if you really are a Christian as you say you are, you shouldn't be so caught up in the world, because remember, the world is AGAINST Christians. Second, non-Gospel songs and/or media is not for Christians because it is secular, therefore making it a part of the world, whom is against us. Third, look at all the celebrities(beyonce, jessica simpson, etc.) who grew up in the Church but once they became famous, they started out doing the world's work and not God's. They claim to be Christians, but they do all the things our Father commands us not to do. Fourth, Leviticus 19:28 says, " Do not cut your bodies(piercing) for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." The Bible teaches against expensive clothing. 1 Timothey 2:9-10: I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds appropriate for women who profess to worship God." Wearing brands like Roc-a Wear and Sean John or Phat Farm/Baby Phat, etc. isn't something Christians should do. The people who make these clothing are secular artist who go against God's Word, so why should you advertise for someone who doesn't follow God? Latsly, there's no such thing as a bad Christian or a good Christian. You're either one or the other. You can't claim to be a Christian and then go against God's Word. Because Christ said "whoever is not with Me, is against Me."

IF you are HAVING any doubts about weather or not your a good or bad christian,...... ONLY YOU AND GOD can make that decision, this is not a question that i can answer but You have access to a bible, study it. Think would jesus do what im doing, and am i risking my salvation for pleasures of the world, you know your heart, and so does god........ NO!! designer things are not bad as long as you do not put them ahead of god, Another thing, peircings are not bad but it depends on where, If your a christian and those whom are not christian see your life, and cannot see anything different in yours and theirs, then your can be preventing others from salvation, although it is their choice but .... When they see a difference in you and your apperance and your life, then you can be a light and guide many people to god. ITS your Call.

You are not ever a bad Christian as long as you believe in God. Now, trust me on this...I am a Christian, my aunts, uncles, parents, cousins, grandparents, and great grandparents are all Christians. Just because you have moment when you say cuss words doesn't make you a bad Christian. Also, no...piercing your ears and stuff has NOTHING to do with being a Christian at all. We all have times when life is hard and we may go wrong and make mistakes. The Christian thing to do however, is to just know you believe in God and to pray, pray, pray. Follow your dreams and don't let anyone tell you otherwise...follow your heart. Good luck.

Well you are conforming to the world, the book of 1 john says love not the world neither the things of the world,if any man/woman loves the world, the love of the father is not in him...so if you are a friend of the world you are an enemy of God,thats what the book of James calls, designer purses and clothes is not necessarily sin unless your promoting evil, like wearing Rocawear, or SeanJohn,i wouldnt suggest wearing clothing of that sort because they are against Gods message. and why would you want to put wholes in your ears, those are signs of slavery and is forbidden in the book of Levitucus...Use your gifts to edify the church...and find a church that will appreciate your talents that the Lord has given you

I can understand your church preaching against cursing (a good tree will bear good fruit, and profanity is not the fruit of a Christian), but not against singing or acting or poetry. God HAS given these gifts to you and you should use them.

But use them to bring glory and honor to God and he will multiply your talents and put joy in your heart. Two words: Whitney Houston. She had it all and still found her life empty and unfulfilling.

Owning nice things like designer purses is not a sin. But make sure that you're being a good steward of your money. Tithe and use your money to help others as well as get nice things for yourself.

Some will say it is, but it all depends on what you believe in sweetie. Some religious fanatics are so dead-set against anything different, they will tell you anything and everything is a sin just to keep you in line. I had someone tell me once that beats were bad (referring to gospel music in baptist churches, or African American churches most of the time) I was also told that singers like Cece Winans and Kirk Franklin were sinning doing the devil's bidding. I'm a writer myself. I write music, poetry, stories, and I paint and cook. I believe I received all of those gifts from God, regardless of what some people will say. My mom's friend told me that fantasy was the devil. I'm a fantasy writer, so according to her, I'm doing the devil's bidding and I am going to hell. Go figure.

I have a suggestion for you, and I mean this as a friend. Don't ask other people this question. Study your bible, get to know the character of God. Pray. Have a close relationship to Jesus Christ. The spirit of God will answer you. People will lead you all over the map. They will tell you this is wrong, that's wrong, do this, don't do that, you will be confused times ten.

The more we take in the word of God, the closer to the Lord we are, the more God can answer your questions and show you what He would have you do. There is a verse in the bible, "work out your own salvation in fear and trembling". This means, look to God and walk your walk...don't look to others for answers.

I pray that God bless you, keep you, and lead you, in Jesus' name.
