uhhhhh.............better support for your back, therefore your posture..........better support and protection for your internal organs.
That is all the comes to mind but those are excellent reasons.
For women, weight bearing exercises that invariably will build and tone muscles also help their bones to maintain their integrity, so they do not get brittle bones that can break, probably has similar impact on men.

It Actually IS A Better Way To Stay Fit! When You Weightlift, You Gain Muscle Mass In A Certain Area. When You Jog, Or Play A Sport, You Gain Muscle Mass In Every Muscle In Your Body Needed To Do The Activity, And Above That, You Burn Fat....

You have a good point, but some sort of exercise is important to our health.
It is not necessary to do weight lifting to gain muscle tone which is important. Most men/women who do weight lifting are developing what is know as "glamor" muscle anyway. Also weight lifters don't gain any aerobic belief, which is also important to our health. I am not knocking weight lifters, I am just point out that it's not necessary for good health.

beleive it or not some of thwe normal every day activities expose us to injury . you are partially right that any exercise not just lifting heavy weights for looks is just as benifical! Although lifting lighter weights to tone our bodies and stregthen are core muscles in the lower back help to avoid injury as well as give a better posture.

Building muscle is important for burning fat- jogging and tennis are cardiovascular exercises which work in conjunction with weight training.

I do it because it relaxes me, and keeps me healthy. Also, i don't have the money for all of these machines, so i do need a sufficient amount of strength to do some daily tasks

Strong muscles equals strong bones. If you are a woman, you need to worry about keeping your bone mass up, or you'll end up with osteoporosis.
