The comunists tried to do that for 80 years. Before them, the masons tried too. They said that they would hang the last king with the guts of the last Pope.
Still there are masons, but they are rather forgotten, and the comunism has almost dissapeared. In Russia, the Church has returned from the catacombs.
Since you talk about intolerance, prejudice towards other humans, you really should live in a comunist contry to experience what you are saying.
In Cuba, going to church was like walking with a time bomb, not knowing when it would explode. Being Christian, same thing.
When the Mariel, in the 80s, the comunists sieged your home and screamed insults all day and all night. If you dared to go out, they would beat you until your teeth fell.
Being Christian meant that you were a potential enemy. In the 60s, there were concentration camps called UMAP ( military units of help to production ) where they held Jehova's witnesses, priests, and other examples of what they called dangerous elements. And now you come to say that organized religion CREATES INTOLERANCE and PREJUDICE AGAINST OTHER HUMANS ?

ow, c'mon, mate! organized religion is nothing more like any political or other philosophies who have their adherents who will all create more intolerance, bigotry, and prejudice towards other humans. Why? Because if you can't stomach religions who reward their followers with none material things, how more of a society with no religion who thinks that everthing has a material price, something in exchange for favors granted. And what would happen if this material expectations are not achieved. More violence for sure.
Is religion antiquated? If so, what other philosophies have put order in a society without using force or other violent methods.Just why is it that with all the social norms taught in non religious school, there still exits all the violence, immorality, injustices, etc. without religion having take parts in it?
It seems that without a universal law, the inadequacies of a non religious philosophy extinguish itself. Learn from our histories, organized religions did not create the turbulences, but rather those who are materialist, non religious by heart individuals, who manipulate the unquestioning good people in a religion to fight among its other.
I understand why you may ask such questions. There really exits hypocrites in the ranks of the religious people. I also have to make it clear that having no religion does not mean one is immoral. In fact, there are atheist who are more law abiding citizens than so called religious. But that is the exceptions. In general, when there is no universal law which gives non materialist reward, atheism leads to anarchsm. With this, can society survive for long a battle of the fittest?

I don't think it should be banned from the earth, because Religion does teach a lot of good morals, BUT, and I am sure that people will bash this.
1. People have to realize that we are all the same. We bleed the same, we cry the same, we long for acceptance... all the same.
2. Hatred of another race is based on ignorance, and the comments here in Answers proves it. I think people should make an effort to meet a specific race and religion and get to know them before making judgement about them. For example, if you don't like Christians and think they are all evil and want to kill you. GO VISIT A CHURCH, talk to Christians, know what THEY REALLY think. If you hate Muslims, GO TO A MOSQUE, meet some Muslims, educate yourself.
3. Just remember that no matter what you believe, your actions are a representation of your religion and your race. How you behave will make people form opinions about your religion, race, and create prejudice.
4. People just have to get over the idea that one religion is better than another. God created us all, he created us equally, and maybe he didn't intend for us all to get along... but he didn't intend on us forming opinions on people we never met either!
Before you stop reading, I want you to consider something...
All peoples of the book believe in most of the same prophets. Stop and think... If JESUS, or MOSES, or ABRAHAM were alive today. IF HE SAW the way Christians treated Muslims, Muslims treated Christians, and they both treated Jews... WHAT WOULD THEY THINK? HOW WOULD THEY FEEL? Would they feel that you are accurately representing your beliefs? Don't be stubborn about it either. Really think about that.

There is a great irony in what you are asking. If everyone was forced to ban organized religion and forced to accept the believe that religion creates intolerance, you have just created a belief system based on intolerance. You would be creating the very thing you claim is causing all of the worlds problems

For some only Christianity, Islam and Judaism are religions of the earth......those who are unhappy with religious wars of these religions and talk about "ALL" religions should atleast read about major eastern religions Hinduism (with 1 billion followers today) and Buddhism (with .6 billion followers). In noway these two major religions creates intolerance, bigotry and prejudice towards other humans.
Instead of hating all religions we all should learn and read about spiritual Hinduism or Buddhism.

Its not necessarily religion that is the problem.....there are many awesome things that result from Church's & temples but it the way people process the information they receive.....
..b/c they stil consider themselves seperate from the whole there is this burning desire to connect to a group which is executed in the form of a church or temple......this gives one comfort in themselves until they can ever really truely conceive the real reality that every so-called relegion if pure in its foundation are all one message with different flavors....
Its the teachings that are received as Dogma that cause problems....After 13 years of Catholic school I realized the one thing the church didn't like me doing was asking "why" is it the way you say it is.......and to say God wanted it that way doesn't fly anymore.....
The power to ask a question of something that is very real to you is the power I feel many religious people are afraid to possess which is why they find solace and comfort in the ideals of the group....in this case ignorance can be bliss.
So its not religion that is the problem its man's complacency with accepting things that are easier to swallow and remain within line then to have a real burning desire to LIVE and experience the physical form to the fullest of its possibilities.....that is real religion....the religion of the individual soul

Extremism in any form is never good or helpful -so I would be against erradication of organized religion. Religion creates a lot of wonderful things too - though I agree that a lot of bad things do come out of the organization itself (but what would happen to all the sheeple without it?)
It would be interesting to create a twilight zone that might toy with this scenario - really give it life. Take some of the theories to their logical conclusion.
Peace!

Yeah, then all we will have is the chaos that is so relevent today but a thousand times worse than it is now. IT is not the religious entities that cause the bigotry and violence but the satanic cults that try to make themselves gods that should be worshipped and to prove your loyalty, go out and kill some innocent people in the name of your religion.

Definitely. There would be less war, prejudice and intolerance. Then all the money and riches that the Vatican is hiding could be given to the poor people of the world, instead of lining their pockets. Recycle all the bibles, because lets face it what a waste of paper. Castrate all the priests before they decide to become paedophiles ( as most do). Make the evil nuns join the military. Make churches into useful buildings needed for homeless people

whoever initiates bringing the world together as one by either ridding of all religion to create false peace or creating one world religion to create false peace is the antiChrist...it is a sign of the end of the world. it does not matter what you do there will always be good and evil in this world of sinners and there is no stopping them from fighting...peace will only exist after God lays the kingdom of heaven upon the earth.
