Christians are reminded EVERY DAY on Yahoo that their ancestors were responsible for the Inquisition, the Salem witch hunt, and the ravaging of the Native Americans. Our God is always portrayed as a mean, violent, power-hungry jerk.
But say ONE BAD WORD against Islam, and you're jumped on for it. Mention Al Qaeda, and you're told that doesn't represent real Islam.
Mention crimes against humanity in communist countries, you're told that doesn't represent real communism.
Mention the crisis in Darfur, the Mogadishu meltdown, the attack on 9/11 and you're told they have little to do with religion.
But a bunch of jerks who had some power 500 years ago, that represents the real church of Christ!

I agree. That isn't fair to Christians. Christianity, just like every other organized group of people, has it's nucleus of real, serious members, and it's outskirts composed with psychos.
I don't think it's fair to condemn Christians as a whole because of the actions of the evil jerks that simply CLAIM to be Christian either.

Hi there.
Look what The Hebrews Did to our Lord Jesus.
Look what Nero did to the Christians.
The Gospel is seen as foolishness by unbelievers because they have few choices once they hear it. What we are saying is that if they do not believe in Christ finished work on the cross and they have not kept all of GOD's law then its death and Resurrection to the lake of fire for them. Basically Heaven or Hell.
This is offensive to say the least. True or not.
The Devil has a very small tool box but it is an effective one. His spiritual screwdriver and duct tape is "Ye shall not surely die:"
We are called to love these people, believers and non believers alike. We are the message of life to those who will believe. We are the message of death to those who are perishing.
GOD bless you and strengthen you in your battles.

The problem is a matter of perception. There is so much anti-Semitic material and hate literature on the Net, it isn't funny. It seems that Nazi-types have found an oasis on the Internet and they think they can flout anti-defamation laws and hate literature laws.
Islam is a deeply misunderstood religion. That said, some people confuse the religious right with Christianity in general.

A lot of people in this country feel safe attacking Christianity because it is something they are familiar with. The same people are very reluctant to attack Islam because they feel as if they are attacking another culture by doing so; since most of us in this country have been indoctrinated with this excessive multiculturalism mindset, we feel guilty if we violate it's central tenant: thou shall not criticize any ones culture except your own.

Where is your focus?
You claim you are a Christian, follower of Christ Jesus.
From the bible, it is very clear what Christians are suppose to be doing. It is also very clear when people don't follow Jesus.
God judges not you. If you have any doubts, it starts with teach all nations, not to convert everyone.

Anyone who objectively reads the Gospels can see that Jesus preached about repentance and the coming judgment. These are not popular messages to those who will not be humbled. They will lash out at anything related to Christianity, to justify their unbelief.

Amen.
However, we should not be surprised. Our Lord told us that this is the way it would be.
As it is written: "If the world hates you, you should realize that it hated me before you. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. But because you do not belong to the world and I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you. Remember the word that I spoke to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. They will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me." (John 15:18-21)

Your added details should have been phrased differently if I understand what you mean.
You are correct that there is a double standard. I cannot say with certainty why. Part of it is due to ignorance. Part of it is due to hate. Part of it is a diversionary tactic to get attention off themselves. Who knows which is applicable to the instance to which you are referring?
